Shenyang FC-31 / J-31 Fighter Demonstrator

Engineer

Major
If it is true, then question arises, whether the Shenyang Stealth Fighter would be an Air Superiority fighter or would it be something like the J-20?

If one is built by Shenyang, it would be a multi-role fighter, since J-20 is meant for air superiority and cannot do anything else.

If the shenyang 5th gen was an air superiority fighter it would be something like the J-20...

Most people are saying it's a striker, but unsure whetehr it's one engine or two engines.

If you look at the designs Shenyang has, two engines aircraft would be their specialty.

^Yeah I would think so, and previous consensus was that J-19 would be a heavy two engine striker.

But that was thrown into limbo a few weeks back, saying the SAC plane would be single engined instead zz

Regarding the accuracy ! Yes, but the problem is that JANE's has IMO not the best reliability in regard to CHinese things and only "if" there were once "fairly accurate", that doesn not man that they are in fact accurate.

Also there's too much "wishfull-think" in it ...

Interesting note, there has been two published books on the Hongniao missile alone.

Here are the rest of the images

again, i think there will be no 5th gen single engined fighter aircraft before WS-15

a WS-10 class aircraft will step on the foot of J-10/B, and doubtfully can provide enough thrust

i wish we can see the bird to end these recurrent speculations

Books ?? Any more info on those ??

... and regarding these images You did notice that they show two different missiles with the same designation and esp. the one on top looks very much like the Tomahawk You posed last time ?
Sorry, but a photo taken from "defencetalk.com" is IMO not really a credible proof that the HN-2 designation is correct nor that it exist.

The top one shows the HN-2, and according to numerous articles it was developed from a crashed BGM-109 Tomahawk. The HN-2 is rumored to come in two variants, possibly explaining the differences in fuselage. It may also be the booster for initial takeoff.
