"A spectacular drone display in Shanghai to mark the start of the new year did not actually happen at New Year, it has emerged.

The display of thousands of drones flying in formation over the city was widely covered by global media.

But people who were at the event on New Year's Eve have said they saw nothing.

The company behind the display has confirmed to the BBC that the footage broadcast around the world was actually from a practice run on 28 December.

Footage of the impressive display was released to the world's media by China's state-run media.

, people who were watching from the riverside area The Bund across from Pudong "say they didn't see anything in the night sky. No drones. No nothing".

"This blows my mind because it's 100% Chinese fake news. We stood outside last night for a show that never happened," one person, Patrick Cox, said on Twitter."

Hahaha
Chinese faking it as usual.
Whether any suitable meme is available for a chinese fake I wonder ?
@Bltizo we require another tip of the hat from you for this Chinese stereotype.

Haha.
Chinese are so afraid of public failure that they tried to pass of a rehearsal as the real thing.
Its so pathetic, that its unbelievable.
Reminds me of the chinese Olympic ceremony where a normal girl solo singer was replaced by a better looker , who just lip synced.

Seems like they decided to cancel that particular drone show during the actual 31st. I agree it shouldn't have been presented as the new year event but they already had the recordings from the rehearsal so maybe some miscommunication between media presenting it and the ones who cancelled the show. Your generalising statements about chinese people are pretty stupid and disgusting. Anyone can also write volumes on portraying Indians negatively. It's pointless and unnecessarily provocative. But I suppose since India super power 2020 are hurting egos, this is a good distraction. Remember this is real. Even if misrepresented by one media outlet, the drones and rehearsals happened.

That cgtn video should have been accurately titled rehearsal run since it is misleading. Guess we'll see it for Chinese New year. 31st December is not exactly celebrated in china even if in recent years many bigger cities do put on a small show. CNY is still recognised as new year in china. I said happy new year to some Chinese friends two days ago and were met with huh? What ?? Ohhhh right... Lol

@Deino @Bltizo please ban that braindead bhakt.

He needs some way to vent. India 31/12/2019 and India 1/1/2020 has likely taken a few steps backwards rather than overtake China and embrace superpowerdom. The bhakt ego was bruised and their heroes humbled. So many Indians claimed they would overtake China by 2020 but India is not even yet a fraction of China's economy today (3/1/2020) and rated by IMF to be in serious economic strife.

So he takes a genuinely cool drone display and does what bhakts do best, find something negative and exaggerate the importance of the negative aspects while judging all billion Chinese with that standard. God forbid one imagine how nasty bhakts would be if we judged them by the extreme actions of a few. Actually pretty accurate. Most bhakts are truly next level dimwitted and arrogant. Exactly like our friend maint here has revealed of himself. Pfft as if indian media never made errors. Indian media is an absolute error in and of itself. Not even pot calling kettle black... This drone show example is more like diarrhoea calling the silverware black :D

Obviously this thread is trolling, but so was the one it's in response to. That one was only locked and not deleted, so the trolling stays on the forum forever and on the front page for some time. Additionally, it received appreciation from a moderator, which is hard to describe as anything other than being in poor taste. Hopefully, the moderators can stop their double standards, to borrow a phrase, and uphold the rules evenly.

Normally I would agree with these sentiments but you're ignoring the details with this particularly annoying Indian case. That thread may be in slightly poor taste which is exactly why so few responded. Did you notice how magnanimous and graceful most Chinese posters were? A single digit percentage point of this forum weighed in and weighed in with much restraint. If the positions were reversed, the Indians would be carrying on into double digit page numbers with moderators joining in on the Ch*nk/ Chicom/ Go*k namecalling. There's the difference for a start.

On top of this, that thread is also a response to Indian trolling and chest thumping for 10-20 years straight. Imagine Chinese chauvinists talking crap about the USA for 2 decades and telling everyone and themselves how they will easily overcome the USA by 2020 and then get absolutely nowhere near. Self fellatio champions deserve a humbling reminder. Therefore the mods locking that thread is showing grace enough when you consider the real context here. I applaud the Chinese members in their restraint on their posts in that thread. I'm one of the more impatient Chinese posters of this forum and thought it was a bit of a low shot and more fitting for PDF but still recognise and totally understand the motivations. I'm not one to fire the first shot but sure will respond.

These are some of the more gracious responses to that thread from people who will get called 50 cent troll and CCP troll anywhere else on the internet just for countering popular (and incorrect) opinions. Consider this and look at any bhakt and Indian defence forums then compare the quality of people between the two.

So essentially Maint here is upset there is one locked thread on SDF that can be considered a shot at Indian egos and totally justified in response to all the crap they've been saying. LOL as if not call that out and let it slide? Chinese are FAR too gracious and magnanimous. It's always been why Chinese have been too timid to respond to real aggression and too passive to actively counter clear efforts against us. What's wrong with responding to provocations?

The appropriate response to that thread would have been humility. It's their prerogative and their choices but calling out Indian arrogance in the same isolated military forum ecosystem is far less than what any other group would have done to them. If anything, SDF is too kind to India. You as an individual may or may not partake in the "trolling"/ response but you should understand that other members will because India was like a failing high school kid calling a PHD a dumbass and telling everyone how it will outperform it. Then it got absolutely humbled.

Faking it like India's moon lander survived a crash landing and was only tilted a bit?

Faking it like India's democracy which has recently been exposed as a fraudulent one. How many protestors in India have been killed so far? How many raped and murdered in Kashmir? Fake democracy. Fake morality. Fake ability. Fake confidence. Real bobs and vagene.
