Would it be a matter of time before China splits way with Russia on the CRAIC CR929 program and goes its own way as COMAC C929 instead?
PD-35 was never supposed to be in the critical path for CR929. It was supposed to have three engine options. Some Western engine, the Russian one, and the Chinese one.

The Russians did propose joint development of PD-35 with the Chinese when the project started but China wanted to make their own engine the CJ-2000 so that proposal never went anywhere.

neither PD-35 nor CJ-2000

early units of CR929 will be powered by Trent 7000 engine.

after 2030 CR929 will be equipped with domestic and Russian engines. depends on agreement.

But with the 2022 Ukraine war and the 2nd Cold War of China vs West, the Trent 7000 would have been long thrown out of the window.

However, by the looks of things, it is indeed a good thing that China is working on their own CJ-2000 engine project. Wouldn't know till when China-Russia cooperation on this CR929 could last in light of the current geopolitical scenario.

Not necessarily. If the aircraft assembly facilities are in China and the airplanes which use the Trent 7000 are not sold to Russia the engine might still be available. There is a ban on export of aircraft parts to Russia not to China. I will give you one example. Russia sold India the unfinished Admiral Grigorovich frigate hulls they had, and the Indians were supposed to integrate Ukrainian engines with the hulls for their own use.

PD-14 need few years under wings for maturity. but there could be another theory that since European airspace is closed Russia may want to develop engines for airplanes both Cargo and Passenger that are much higher performance in hot and cold climate and longer range than initial design. current CR929 specifications now where near latest A350 let alone some thing 10 years down the line.

for example Russian airlines are using SSJ with current engines upto 4200km routes . but the engine replacement for SSJ new is 10% more powerful. so they have come to conclusion that engine need to boost up even for regional jet.

For example, part of the budget for the PD-35 engine program was reallocated to other high-priority tasks, including the creation of PD-14 and PD-8 engines. “We are not abandoning this development, the main goals of the program will be achieved within the agreed time frame. Russia needs this engine to create super-heavy transport and wide-body civil aircraft, as well as units for the oil and gas industry,” Chemezov said.

Military correspondents found Chinese roots in the Russian Dobrynya drone

Military commissars Alexander Kharchenko and Roman Saponkov noticed that the latest development of the Almaz-Antey concern, the imported Dobrynya drone, is similar to the Chinese iFlight Nazgul, which can be ordered online for 30,000 rubles.

RIA Novosti correspondent in the NVO zone Alexander Kharchenko and independent military correspondent Roman Saponkov noticed that the latest development of the Almaz-Antey concern, the imported Dobrynya drone, is suspiciously similar to the Chinese iFlight Nazgul.

The drone was presented a week ago. Reports on federal channels

his Russian origin:

“It took only four months for the specialists of one of the leading enterprises in the defense industry, the Almaz-Antey Concern, to start mass production of a product that has recently become popular all over the planet practically from scratch. In St. Petersburg, a production facility was created exclusively from domestic components: from bolts and cogs to software.”

But, as military commander Saponkov

And the copter itself looks like a Chinese racing drone, which can be bought on AliExpress for 30 thousand rubles. At the same time, Almaz-Antey stated that the price of Dobrynya starts from 130 thousand rubles.

a complete analysis of the latest development. Everything from the propellers to the drone's camera is owned by various Chinese companies, he said.

"Dobrynya" is positioned exclusively as a civilian copter. Journalists showed how he passed a test flight in the rain and 30-degree frost, which means he can help rescuers or participate in competitions. But Almaz-Antey is an enterprise of the military-industrial complex, which suggests its possible participation in a special operation.

Commented by a military expert, founder of the Military Russia portal Dmitry Kornev.

Dmitry Kornev
military expert, founder of the Military Russia portal“On the one hand, the situation is completely unexpected, because Almaz-Antey is a very serious company that is developing in many areas of the military-industrial complex, these are anti-aircraft systems, missile defense, a variety of weapons, including nuclear ones. This situation is somewhat shocking. On the other hand, apparently, some division, which is part of the concern, made a fuss and organized such a remake. Drones are needed, we have been talking about this for a long time, but here is such a thing. A budget of 138 thousand for a drone is kind of a tolerable budget. People often ask why we have a powerful aviation industry, we are making fifth-generation aircraft, preparing to roll out the Stealth strategic bomber, but we cannot organize simple Geranium-type drones and the like, which can be made by any country in the world. Probably, this is the industrial complex we have with you, it has other tasks and goals. Or it just needs to be put in order.

The situation was commented by the Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Andrey Medvedev. In his telegram channel, he

: “I am hoping that all of a sudden we are all wrong and our eyes are blurry. And that a respected concern could not act in such a specific way. Medvedev recalled that the president called for providing the army with everything necessary, but, as the vice speaker put it, "nothing else."

But this is only a prototype, the main thing worth paying attention to is the domestic drone board, says Maxim Chugunov, CEO of Promobot.

Maxim Chugunov
CEO of Promobot“They pointed out that the battery is Chinese, the engines are Chinese, the antenna and so on are all Chinese. At the same time, it is said that the controller was developed by Almaz-Antey. The controller is a board that controls the engines, allows the structure to fly. That is, this controller interconnects the operation of all engines, synchronizes them if necessary. Let's admit the fact that, yes, we simply don't produce this in Russia now, semiconductors and everything else is foreign, because they don't exist. There is design documentation, there is a supply of components. To achieve such a result in four months is a rather big challenge, that is, the team must work very actively. The next steps should be just the progressive replacement of all components with domestic ones.

Almaz-Antey reported that the “big brother” of Dobrynya, the large Gorynych drone,

Big day at Baltic Shipyard in St. Petersburg.

Project 22220 nuclear icebreaker "Ural" (3rd) is commissioned into service. And nuclear icebreaker "Yakutiya" (4th) of same type was launched.

Relatedly, it seems that Russia will pursue

. This brings the total to seven, plus the three Pr. 10510 nuclear-powered icebreakers that are also planned Though, it is curious that Manturov only mentioned Rossiya and not the other two Pr. 10510 icebreakers that are meant to be on the order books...

For clarity, here are Russia's new generation nuclear-powered icebreakers:

Pr. 22220
Arktika - In service
Sibir - In service
Ural - In service
Yakutia - Launched
Chukotka - Laid down

#7

Pr. 10510
Rossiya - Laid down

Project 22220 is meant to replace both the Arktika class (Yamal, 50 Let Pobedy) and the Taymyr class (Taymyr, Vaygach) nuclear icebreakers. I assume the other two are ordered to replace the Taymyr class.

As far as I know, the Russians do want to make seven Project 22220 and three Project 10510 ships. But so far they only funded five and one of each respectively. The extra two Project 22220 are practically a done deal I think but I know there were issues at one point with getting the funding for Project 10510 and they had to make a special carveout in the budget to fund it. Right now the factory which does the nuclear reactors is busy doing the RITM-400s for Project 10510. I do not know if they are simultaneously producing the RITM-200s for Project 22220 or not.
