the Flankers you fly in the US are Soviet jets, Russia already has replaced all those jets with modern versions with TVC nozzles, and Supercruise capable Su-35s , a Modern Su-30SM has improved avionics and TVC nozzles your F-16 can not compete, in fact the Su-35 will pick any F-16 at far far ranges that no F-16 will see it, so in BVR no F-16 can down the Su-35s; at WVR no F-16 will beat Su-35 since the old Soviet fighter you operate already was better than any F-15 and the F-16s had troubles fighting the Eagles, sorry to say this too you but you have watched many topgun movies, Su-35 has made obsolete your F-16s, most of your F-16s do not even have IRST trackers and most advanced F-16s are built for foreign air arms your air force has many cold war relics.

You are forgetting Russians are humans and your pilots are humans too, they also train how to beat your pilots, and those Russian pilots are only inferior in Hollywood movies in real life are really good pilots

Don't worry buddy, the US military is used to saving the unfaithful and unappreciative! why else do you suspect everybody is heading North??? if we were half as bad as you seem to believe, would anyone be doing everything in the world to move here??

I believe we need to secure our borders, but I'm extremely sympathetic with those who want to experience true freedom and raise their children in a free Republic? I feel bad for all those who live under oppression, and do not enjoy the many freedoms that I do.

Truth be told, most Americans work hard, pay their taxes, attend the church, synagogue, temple, or mosque of their choice, or don't? and express their generosity to their fellow travelers every day!

Most American's wish there fellow man well, and express that kindness abroad, as many others have through the years expressed that kindness to us. Tonight at this keyboard, I can say "anything" I want to about my President or the President elect, or my Senators or Congressmen?? I wish each of them only the best, but I am happy that Mr. Obama's turn in office has come to an end, his policies, and his demeanor have represented us very poorly during his term in office! I only pray that Mr. Trump will accept this great honor he has been afforded, and the attendant privileges, and put his heart and soul into restoring the freedoms and ideals that we each are entitled to under our constitution, and extend those to all men of good faith, including the privilege to immigrate here and become American citizens if they so desire??

The Russians had a "taste of freedom", they found out it is hard, and it does require effort, and sometimes the hand of a loving generous God to sustain you, when you fail, as we all do from time to time.

So those Americans in Nevada are training to fight for "our collective freedom", and you can bet your sweet "patootie" that they are fighting to win, the guy in the SU-27 may in fact have been the victor??? Let me assure you this, in spite of our many failures under bro Obama's turn as "Commander in Chief", our military remains motivated and dangerous to bad guys, and harmless to citizens of the United States and the world at large! I have two son in laws who served in the US Army, I have to likely future son in laws who are just beginning their military careers, one in the Army, and on a Marine.

So I am hopeful that Mr. Trump, and Mr. Putin will reach a mutual and mutually beneficial relationship, and that each of our peoples will be blessed by the freedom that follows. I have an even greater hope that Mr. Xi and Mr. Trump will reach that same place of friendship and trust, and have a mutual respect that will benefit each of their peoples.

But I will promise you this, America will once again be worthy of the faith and trust of our Allies and Defense partners, the F-35s that we are jointly building with our partners, along with our F-22's and 4thgens will help us secure that freedom and security for all our friends and neighbors! I will personally hold Mr. Trump to this very high ideal, as will all those who voted for him, and those who voted against him, that is after all a very important aspect of our freedom, and it is our responsibility to do so!

avionics fly in airframes, airframes have metal fatigue, if you fly your F-15 simulating dogfighting Su-27s, the Eagles lose feathers, metal cracks, now ca you get it, today`s F-15s are old, same the F-16s, the USAF true has 3 or 4 times more F-16s with equivalent airframes to the MiG-29s and the USAF has as many Eagles as Russia has Flankers but the Su-30s and Su-35s are newer, better and have younger airframes.
Only the F-18E has new airframes.
Here the conversation was the F-16s are dogfighting Su-27s, but those Su-27s are old, their airframes too so it is unlike;y they can represent the Su-35 or Su-30s, they represent the old Su-27s flown in Ukraine, but the Su-3Xs of Russia, no they do not.
Not for nothing the USAF wants the F-35s, but do not lie to yourself, the USAF also flies relics

Airplanes do age, some gracefully, some not so gracefully, we do heavy depot level maintenance on airframes that are reaching the end of their service life, the SLEP catalogue is full indeed, and we rebuild everything we need, and retire what isn't worth saving! Nobody has better maintenance, and nobody "beats on their aircraft in training to a higher standard".

I would remind you again that I have been gainfully employed as an aircraft mechanic working under the watchful eye of an AI, I will be working on our airplane again this spring as we perform another annual inspection, correcting all observed deficiencies. Last year we replaced seat rails, two main tires, filters, fluids, cleaned, and cleaned some more, lubed and replaced, and yes drilled a few holes to stop cracking!

I have a set of keys for that old airplane that will shortly turn 50.

This type of scenarios is the best there is.They will poke and prod every inch of the airframe and it's capabilities and like anything will pitch strength against weakness.

In this case they will learn how to force a scenario or conditions where the Vipers etc can use it's best performance envelop against the Flanker's weakest whatever they may be and then develop tactics and based on that advantage.
In other words train viper pilots to best create scenarios that is most favorable to themselves and unfavorable to the Flankers.

Also you can bet they put the absolute best pilot in that Flanker.

Doesn't dog fight depends a lot on the engines? I'm thinking of more a car racing analogy where the horse power, torque and power envelope of the engine give the driver the ability to outrace others. If that is true, having older flankers will lower the estimates of the capabilities of the current generations of Flankers with more powerful engines, centre of gravity and power envelope and make the tactics developed using older Flankers obsolete

Yes and not necessarily but overall not pertainet.
Yes in that you are correct the increased engine power will change the kenetic performance of the fighter. No in that the addition of missiles fuel and bullets would add drag and weight sapping power from the flanker.
Not pertainet in that the goal is not to train specifically against a Flanker but any aircraft other then those of your own performance type. Most of the history of aggressor squadrons is based around using F5s as they were found to simulate the aerobatics of a top of the line Mig21. Not just because it was a Russian fighter but because it was the top export threat type. SU27 and MIG 29 are top seller s to Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle east and even parts of Latin America. IE it's not about the exact flavor it about getting a whiff.

My Dearest Friend, all the Russian's did was assist the Middle East's last remaining "Bloody Dictator" to remain in power and continue "murdering" his own people, further driving Syrian refugees to further flood Turkey and assorted other Middle Easter country's, all of Europe and now the United States....

I can assure you, there is a very real Hell to pay for this type of sin against humanity, and yes I realize in your world it always the US's fault, and in this particular circumstance you are exactly right, the Obama/Hillary team fomented "Arab Spring" has been a crime against humanity, but Mr. Putin continues to add to the death toll as he props up Mr. Assad.

Its clear the Syrian people wish to be free from this horrible massacre, just as it was clear the Ukrainian people wished to be free from their Russian Puppet. Mr. Putin is bloody, violent, ruthless, power hungry, and it almost seems delighted by these current events, which allow him to peddle arms and influence. Again, I acknowledge that we are currently doing similar ignorant and inept things.

If it were not for the Obama/Hillary regime and the Russian's, this brush fire would have burnt itself out 4 years ago??? and yes I can say Benghazi, what a "damnable mess"!

My prayers are for the Syrian people, that those fomenters or violence will STOP, STOP NOW! for all our sakes, if these "idiots" continue their grand stupidity, a Biblical Armageddon seems inevitable !

I am deeply saddened by ambassador Adrew Karlov's assignation by an Islamic Terrorist, even though I shared similar concerns, I condemn the personal violence against Russia's diplomatic staff or citizens. I do agree that the Soviet's intervention in Syria has been an un-mitigated disaster, but this kind of senseless killing is what has brought us to this point.

The terror attack in Berlin was deliberately aimed at Christians, celebrating the birth of our Savior, there is a hot place in Hell for those who deliberately kill innocents! The taking of another persons life is a sin.

So for all those families, German, Russian, Chinese, English, French, and even American, who have lost loved ones this year to radical Islam, my prayers go up. For the rest of the world, Christian, Moslem, Buddhist, we must meet these murderous thugs with strength and unity, and bring this killing to a stop!

It is a Russian intervention, not a Soviet one. And without that intervention Syria might have become a failed state, a paradise for terrorists just as Libya is now. This intervention is in line with international law as established by the Westphalian Peace Treaties of 1648 and confirmed by the Charter of the United Nations while support for the "rebels" violates international law. The majority of Syrians is happy with the developments of this year.

I have to agree. Russia gets a great deal of bad press whilst the US and its Allies who have funded both 'moderate' rebels and jihadists are painted as the good guys. So much for the 'war against terror' I guess. Also the simple fact is that Russia and its allies, Iran, and Palestian Hezbollah are LEGALLY supporting Syria at the request of the Syrian government. The legality of the US coalition's mandate is far more questionable.
