A new 3rd Rgt ( 97th G ) created in 2017/19 for the 7th Guards Airborne-Assault (Mountain) Division based to Novorossyysk now the 4 Div have only 2 Rgt exist also 5 Indep. Brigades.
Rgt based in Crimea to Dzhankoy.

For soon also 6 Tanks Company with 10 T-72B3 for 6 Div/Br.


The new regiment of the 7th Airborne Assault Division will be formed in Crimea in 2017-2019

According to August 1, 2016 TV channel "Star", a new air assault regiment of Russian Airborne Troops will be formed in the city of Dzhankoy in Crimea in the next year. This was announced by Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the Airborne Nikolai Ignatov.

According to him, in 2017 it will be formed first battalion, and in 2018 and 2019, all of the will be deployed.

Ignatov said that its plans to deploy in the Crimea assault regiment commander reported Airborne Vladimir Shamanov. According to him, the regiment will join the 7th Airborne Assault (Mountain) Division, which is stationed in Novorossiysk, Stavropol and Anapa.

From the bmpd recall that the first information about plans to deploy in the area of the village Kalinovka (3 km south-west of Dzhankoy) in the Crimea, the new 97th Airborne Assault Regiment, 7th Air Assault (Mountain) Division, appeared in November 2015 of the year. Later, however, there were reports that in Dzhankoy will be formed only separate air assault battalion, and the establishment on its base shelf postponed for the period after 2020.

Just a test flight (possibly the first?) with the full load-out, as the Bear never went wheels up?
Most definitely they are testing this out.

But they are demonstrating a capability that ill add more life to the old birds.

Carrying eight of those missiles, with the aircraft range, the missile's range, and the sensors will be something any potential adversary will have to take into account.
