True, however a big part of that was due to the powerplant. Comparing apples to apples, I would say PLAN is at least 10 yrs away from putting to sea nuclear powered surface vessels.

You might not have to wait 10 years for the Chinese nuclear powered surface vessel to appear. Although it's not a carrier, but I heard they are thinking of building a nuclear powered icebreaker, maybe like a testbed for future nuclear powered carrier of some kind?

Depends on what exactly is meant by 'warship building technology'. Are they talking infrastructure, warship design, subsystems, weapon systems or what?

Chinese shipyards can definitely build more and at a faster rate but in terms of say radars I would most certainly give the edge to companies like Thales for example.

hmmmm, radar tech has got anything to do with warship building technology, more in electronic, computation and chips design

French warship still more modern than Chinese .. let alone the carrier and SSN/SSBN

Already posted that story and the pics about four or five posts before on this thread.

HEREhttps://www.sinodefenceforum.com/russian-military-news-reports-data-etc.t1545/page-254#post-363124

...and the couple of posts following it.

Please check to make sure you are not double posting.

If there is a different news story with more info...that's different. In that case we usually refer to the earlier post and then indicate we have more news regarding it.

But when it is only like three or four posts before...that's a little different.

Russia’s Military Drills in Mediterranean Comply With International Norms
Russia holds military exercises in the Mediterranean on a regular basis, and does so in full compliance with international norms, the country’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told journalists on Friday.

“Regarding the drills in the Mediterranean, I would say that I don’t have the information on its schedule, but it is a well-known fact that our Navy holds such exercises on a regular basis. They are held in full compliance with the international norms for events of such a scale,” said Sergei Lavrov.

The day before, Russia had warned nearby air carriers about the missile-firing exercises in the Mediterranean, off the Syrian coast, east of Cyprus.

The drills are set to last until September 17.

Also on Friday, the top diplomat said Russia will continue delivering military equipment to Syria to provide it with sorely needed defense capabilities.

The minister underlined that Russia is not simply supporting Syrian president Bashar Assad, but rather Damascus' fight against the Islamic State. He also called on participants of the international coalition against the extremist group to cooperate with the Syrian army.

Russia’s newest combat vehicle able to destroy drones and helicopters — developer
The Atom advanced infantry combat vehicle has up to five levels of ballistic protection, a WMD protection system and an active protection and laser warning system

STARATEL FIRING RANGE /Sverdlovsk Region/, September 9. /TASS/. Russia’s Atom advanced infantry combat vehicle developed by Russia’s Uralvagonzavod research and production corporation will be able to eliminate lightly-armored targets, as well as drones and helicopters, according to a booklet released at the Russia Arms Expo 2015 international arms show that is opening in Nizhny Tagil in the Urals on Wednesday.

"The combat module with a 57mm automatic gun allows the Atom vehicle crew to detect and eliminate lightly-armored and soft-skinned targets, as well as air targets [drones and helicopters] easily," the booklet reads.

The combat vehicle is also capable of destroying aircraft at a distance of up to 6 km.

The Atom has up to five levels of ballistic protection, a WMD protection system and an active protection and laser warning system.

The Atom’s engine power is 600 hp and its road speed is up to 100 km per hour.

The Atom infantry combat vehicle has been co-developed by the Russian Burevestnik Central Research Institute, a subsidiary of Uralvagonzavod, and the French company Renault Trucks Defense.

New Russian Tanks to Be Able to Fire in ‘Silent Monitoring’ Mode
Oleg Kulikov, a software engineer of the developer company Signal, said that earlier versions of the stabilizer consumed too much energy and led to the tank battery dying if used with the engine turned off

NIZHNY TAGIL (Sputnik) – A Russia-made new generation electromechanical arms stabilizer will allow new Russian tanks to fire from the turret in the "silent monitoring" mode, Oleg Kulikov, a software engineer of the developer company Signal, told RIA Novosti Saturday.

In the new stabilization system, a hydraulic actuator is replaced by an electrical one, according to Kulikov.

“This allows to radically — by 10-15 times — reduce the energy consumption and implement stabilizer in the so-called silent monitoring mode, when the gunner and the tank commander can rotate the turret to raise or to lower the gun and to fire without the engine working, solely on the tank battery’s energy,” the engineer stated.

According to Kulikov, earlier versions of the stabilizer consumed too much energy and led to the tank battery dying if used with the engine turned off.

The engineer said that the arms stabilizer will be used in the T-90MS tank, which is the latest export version of the T-90 tank, the main battle tank currently in service with the Russian Army.
