MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Brazil wants its trade relations with Russia to strengthen and continue past the end of the Moscow-imposed ban on agricultural imports fromWestern countries that hit it with sanctions, Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply Katia Abreu told Sputnik Brazil.

The European Union, the United States and their allies imposed several rounds of sanctions against Russia for its alleged involvement in the Ukrainian crisis in 2014. Moscow has repeatedly denied those claims, and, in August 2014, responded by imposing a year-long ban on certain food imports from the countries that imposed the economic restrictions.

In late June, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree extending the countermeasures.

“For us it [Russia’s embargo] became an opportunity to compensate for the lack of products, subjected to embargo – mainly, meat, milk and fruit. Currently we are trying to strengthen these relations, for them not to become something temporary… Our aim is to build mature business relations with Russia,” Abreu said.

The Brazilian minister added that Russia is expected to begin exports of wheat and fish to Brazil.

“We have practically agreed upon it,” Abreu said.

Earlier in July, Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff said that Brazil fully supports Russia's claim that the Western economic sanctions are counterproductive.

The current Brazilian presidential administration is working on legislation that would facilitate a switch to national currency payments in mutual trade with Russia, Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture said.

"Presidential administration of Brazil is preparing a corresponding bill, that would facilitate transition to national currencies from the Brazilian side. I think, the other [BRICS] countries are also studying their legislation in this regard," Abreu said.

Russia has been stepping up its presence in the Arctic since late 2014 when it revised its military doctrine to declare the region an area of its interest.

The Arctic is believed to have vast untapped reserves of oil and gas. The five Arctic Circle countries, comprising the United States, Russia, Canada, Norway, and Denmark, are particularly interested in exploring them.

Russia Discloses Number of Warships It Has Throughout the World's Oceans
More than eighty Russian Navy ships of various classes currently remain on duty at sea, according to the country's Defense Ministry.

The Russian Defense Ministry said that more than 80 naval ships of various classes are currently on mission in different areas of the World Ocean, including the Atlantic, the Mediterranean Sea and the Gulf of Aden. The 'World Ocean' is the interconnected system of Earth's oceanic waters, comprising all of the oceans and seas of the world.

The information was disclosed in a Defense Ministry press service message dedicated to Russia's Navy Day.

"Right now, the scheduled tasks in different areas of the World Ocean are being implemented by more than eighty warships and support vessels of various classes. Intense preparations are underway in the run-up to the research vessel Admiral Vladimir's unprecedented voyage to Antarctica, due to begin between November and December 2015. The goal is to deal with the oceanographic and hydrographic research of water and the coastal areas of Antarctica," the press service said.

In particular, more than ten warships and supply vessels are now on duty in the Mediterranean as part of Russia's permanent naval task force in this area, according to the Defense Ministry.

The press service also said that the group of warships led by the guards missile cruiser Moskva of the Russian

Also on duty are Russian naval ships in the Gulf of Aden and near the Horn of Africa, where they are tasked with ensuring civilian navigation security.

In addition, the press service said that the two diesel-electric submarines of Project 636, the Novorossiysk and the Rostov-on-Don, will enter service when they join the Russian

"The headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet's submarine squadron has been established in the city of Novorossiysk; the crews were trained earlier at a Russian naval center," the press service said.

Meanwhile, a new generation of ships is reportedly being built for the

; they will include six patrol ship class units capable of escorting ships, containing sea pirates and maintaining stationing site safety.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry pledged to respond in kind to the modernization of US warships, and equipped them with missile defense systems.

The ministry said that Moscow will take appropriate technical retaliatory measures, adding that since the beginning of 2010, the Pentagon has purchased 200 interceptor missiles, and will buy 50 more before the end of this year.

He added that the current State Arms Program includes procurement of MiG-35 fighters by Russian Ministry of Defense. “Deliveries of MiG-35 fighters to Russian air forces may be started next year,” Korotkov added.

It was reported earlier that a brand-new aircraft is offered to the air forces instead of MiG-35 prototype, which took part in a tender issued by Indian Ministry of Defense.

MiG-35 fighter will be able to use the latest types of weapons; it is fitted with cutting-edge avionics suite and Zhuk-AE radar with active phased antenna array. The station allows tracking 30 and

Russia’s newest Armata tank to be on display at RAE-2015 expo in Nizhny Tagil
The Armata was developed as a replacement to the T-95 tank

YEKATERINBURG, July 27. /TASS/. Russia’s newest tank on the Armata platform will be put on display on the second day of the Russia Arms Expo - 2015 (RAE-2015) exhibition, which will be held in Nizhny Tagil in Russia’s Urals region in September, director general of the Nizhny Tagil Institute of Metal Testing Nikolai Smirnov said on Monday.

"Complex demonstrations of military equipment within a company task group will be held on the first day of the exhibition. Armata will not take part in them. Such displays are for the equipment adopted by the Defense Ministry. New products, including the famous Armata tank, will be put on display on the second day of the exhibition. This is a traditional day for companies to present their new products, including in action," Smirnov said at a news conference in the TASS-Urals regional centre.

Armata is a heavy unified platform serving as a base for a tank and an infantry combat vehicle. The new tanks have received unmanned turrets, all digital control and isolated armoured crew capsules. The key armament of Armata is a 125-mm gun, but the use of a 152-mm gun is not ruled out in the future. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said previously that an Armata shell "burns a metre of steel." The Armata tanks were showcased during the Victory Parade in Moscow on May 9, 2015. These are experimental prototypes that returned to their manufacturer plant for improvement and later tests in troops, which are to be held in 2016. Serial production of these tanks is expected to begin in 2017-2018.

The Armata is a new Russian main battle tank (MBT) project. Sometimes it is referred to as T-14. Its development commenced in 2011. The Armata was developed as a replacement to the T-95 tank. The whole project was kept in high secrecy. First mock-up was revealed to Russian military officials in 2013. Trials commenced in 2014. Armata is a new-generation tank, which has little in common with the current T-90. Exact technical specifications of this MBT remain classified.

RAE-2015 will be held at the Staratel range of the Nizhny Tagil Institute of Metal Testing from September 9 to 12. The previous RAE exhibition, held in 2013, brought together early 470 exhibitors and delegations from 40 countries. The exhibition attracted more than 20,000 visitors.

I believe this is a part of the plan that they have had for some time to basically begin replacing the SU-33s with Mig-29Ks.

The Mig-29Ks are newer, will have a lot of service life in them, and will allow the Kuznetsov to carry more aircraft, have a stronger strike capability, and maintain their air defense capability.

The Russians are increasing their numbers of SU-35s and now Mig-35s, both of which are the newest, upgraded versions of their fine Flanker and Fulcrum designs.

IMHO, it is also indicative of the PAK FA slowdown and inability to bring those aircraft forward in any numbers.

The Russians need new birds...and both of these aircraft, SU-35 and Mig-35, can provide the numbers and an increase in capability that the Russian Air Force needs.
