(the possibility of the Russians building there own Vladavostok class LHA )That is assuming that the technologies were transferred, that the Russians are able to open a yard capacity for a carrier sized vessel. That they can follow through on there own design and reverse engineering of components to replace the Lost French systems and can free the money paid to them from being absorbed into other works to fund construction.

Officially, Belgorod is estimated to be 75% complete. It has the complete hull, launchers, reactor installed, the works. However, unofficial news have been neither here, nor there.

What is almost 100% certain is that it will never sail according to original design (it's main arsenal, Granit missiles are no longer in production).

Great pics.

Yes, it is not being used as an SSGN, but I am pretty sure that is was launched and commissioned. As I understood it, it got a special fit out to be used for special missions.

As it is, the Russian Navy has four Oscars that are active and in service, and another two either waiting for, or in overhaul.

Northern Fleet:
K119 Voronezh, active and in service, completed overhaul in 2011
K410 Smolensk, active and in service, completed overhaul in 2013
K266 Orel, inactive, in overhaul. Caught fire in April 2015.

Pacific Fleet:
K186 Omsk, active and in service, completed overhaul in 2008
K456 Vilyuchinsk, active and in service.
K442 Chelyabinsk, inactive, awaiting overhaul.

There are two others that were never completed and are still there:

K-135 Volgograd, incomplete, construction restarted
K-165 Barnaul, incomplete, never launched

There is information that it is being slowly scrapped, other information that it is just being maintained "as is", and other information that it is being modified to carry some new weaponry (which I don't believe).

Don' t know if Belgorod can be finish, i have some doubts after 25 years in what state is her hull ... ?
Exist also Volgograd but the two not launched and some parts used by 955
The Yuriy Dolgoruky used elements of a project unfinished AKULA 971, K-337 kuguar, and K-135 Volgograd project 949A ANTEY / Oscar II unfinished. . For the Aleksandr Nevsky, it is the K-333 971 RYS project AKULA and K-160 Project 949A ANTEY Barnaul. For the third and final sub-project, Vladimir Monomakh the include items retrieved from the K-480-AK BARS alias Bars, 971 disarmed project in 1998 and removed from the naval list in 2002. This explains perhaps be a subtle difference in the rear diving bar on the right Dolgoruki, slightly curved at least over the Monomakh. This recovery is also reflected on the silent propulsion systems, retractable on both projects and projects 971/ 955.

And yes exact !

This draft submarine result of the modification of an unfinished hull of a project 949AM (1st version). The submarine in question, the K-329 Belgorod, was put on hold July 24, 1992 in form No. 55 Sevmash shipyard. But while it is about 75% completion, its construction was stopped and placed in reserve 16 May 1994.Contract No 748/31 / 664PM-2009 / 27-09 19 May 2009 signed between the Ministry of Defence and the Russian engineering office Rubin expects its "re-development". The first indications of his future role dates back to 2010. An interview with the commander of the fleet of the time in February 2012 confirmed that the employment will Belgorod "special", which usually means the submarines in implemented by the main direction of deep diving (GUGI) of the Department of Defense. On February 20, the modification work begins. Two hypotheses are plausible, with either the carriage on deck two submarines intervention, like the old project 940 or the carriage below the hull of a mini-submarine-type project 1851 like the BS-86 Orenburg the 09786 project (667BDR Kalmar / DELTA III changed).

Carriage of unmanned submarines is very likely, which does not appear here.

The commissioning date is not known, but it could be in 2016.

The completion of such a submarine, in parallel with that of the BS-64 Vladimir 09,787 project (667BDRM DELFIN / Delta IV amended draft) emphasizes that obviously Russia intends to provide the means of s' secure a share of the resources of an Arctic Ocean object of so many desires at present.

I do not think the Russians intend to complete the Belgorod as an SSGN and true Oscar.

But I believe that she has already been refit, launched, and used as a special operations/mission boat.

Another interesting Picture:

I have played with filters, and in that sub pen there is something else, possible another sub, so in this photo there are 3 subs: 1 in the open - Uniform, and 2 in sub-pen.
