Interesting overlay of new Russian tank compared to T-80:

It would be interesting to know if this is really to scale?
Because that would make this tank basically Abrams sized.

Its not to scale...there cant be so much difference in size to that of T-80. Compare the size of UAZ in front of the Armata. No way T-80 can be so small..

Armata turret looks actually quite small when you compare it to that improved 125mm gun. How heavily such turret can be armored is questionable... of course it increases crews changes to survive when hit but increased change of mission kill becomes bigger problem.

I'd be surprised if that turret has thick frontal and side armor. Of course it could be driving without any sort ERA or other add on armor but we'll see that soon enough.

The machine as we see it now is a stripped down version. Pics of the tank with flank armour on turret and skirts will likely come up in due time.

Interestingly enough, I had the opportunity to be up close to a T-62 once (and as you know it is a little smaller than a T-80) and I was surprised on how small it was. About the same size as a TAM.

Go to Wikipedia and see the relative sizes of the tanks. I have provided links below:

As I mentioned prior. All this is speculation.
