Xi Yazhou on Ka-52 vs navalized Z10.

He considers Ka-52 a capable copter, but points out that 1) it uses Russian datalink and armaments and 2) Russia doesn’t have the capacity to rump up production to keep pace with China’s building speed for LHDs. I got the impression that he favours navalized Z10 with regular Z10 as stopgap measure.

Is there something a ka-52 can do that a up-armored/weaponized z-20 or enhanced z-10 can't do?

As over-hyped as it is, this ka-52 rumor do get us some new info from source like yankee or xi yazhou as posted above. One interesting bit worth some attention is they are developing an armed variant of z-20 not unlike battle hawk to fill the role of naval heavy gunship.

Indeed, but again or still the question is, how reliable in this regard are both? Are they just picking up this rumour since it is an interesting what-if scenario or since there is indeed something behind?

And as for an armed Z-20 … it already is in development.

It's not as compact as Ka-52 which has folding roters and wings but China will not buy Ka-52 unless Russia buys Chinese vaccines.

The naval version of Ka-52 which has folding rotors and wings is still in development and needs years to come into production. It may not even come before naval z-10 or armed (more armed) z-20. And the chance is their productivity may not be that impressive at all even this variant finish developing ahead of schedule.
