"A video sent by a Chinese friend. It is a video filmed inside the Chinese Army Counter-Terrorism Group (PLAGF ATG) and shows the QBZ-191 with a special warfare kit applied. This special warfare kit is the 1st generation, and the 3rd generation is currently in preparation."

Interesting, they seem to already have a 3rd gen in the making. Wonder what happened to the second-gen.
Perhaps the first gen is a bit too short for the QBZ191 considering the first generation might've simply been only compatible with the 192 instead of 191, afterall the military has made the 191 the most common to use among the military.

After viewing the video it's the same size as the first generation so I retract my statement but I still suspect the qbz191 special warfare kit 3rd gen will increase the length of the handguard.

The second version could have had a flaw that was rectified on the third version, could be a different length/profile barrel, different caliber/bullet type (i.e. subsonic).

Who knows, I certainly don't.

Do the Chinese even use sub-sonics? I've seen them use AP but never sub-sonics.

The first gen "upgrade kit" only seems like it changes the handguard and changes some of the furniture on the gun, and as far as I know it is aftermarket rather than from the factory.

I would be surprised if second and third gen upgrades would actually change the barrel, bullet, calibre or anything about how the gun intrinsically operates.
