Alright, this may be a bit weird to say but:
Outside of the bad coatings thing, I barely see any reports of the QBZ-191 functioning badly, which is good.

Granted, almost every modern day rifles function fine, but the QBZ-191 doesn't suffer from the rust(?) and zeroing issues of the AK-12 (So far at least) and doesn't have things like weight complaints or whatnot like the XM7.

As generic as it is, it's a pretty fucking good rifle all and all.
PLA small arms go through an exhaustive torture test in various simulated environments, possibly harsher testing than used by other militaries and private companies. So rifle reliability, since at least the Type 81, have been very good.

Being fully realistic, US Army just have more money and less people to feed and arm. They have like half the soldiers but probably twice the budget, ngl I don't see the point of having 1M+ active soldiers. China isn't going to fight a major land conflict in any foreseeable future, reducing the amount of people the army needs to feed would be a overall positive as they could afford to equipt infantry with better gear and recieve better training. US is capable of fighting multiple wars across the globe with only ~400K active army service men.
You've got a point. Since China is not in an active war at the moment, I think it might be plausible to reduce personnel for more funds towards better gear. However though, we still have concerns about all the borders disputes/skirmishes all over China, which we have to keep that in mind as well.

That's good. But seriously, I watched many videos from the PLA of QBZ-191/QBU-191 being fired at training range. I remember that I saw the resulting targets and the majority of bullet holes are at around 9 to 10.

Keep that in mind, they fired these guns on a prone position with sandbags to sustain recoil.

Not sure if it's still a high bar anymore, but I must admit that this is pretty fucking impressive.

It reminds me of an older QBU-191 video where it hit all 10s. Back then, me and many people didn't quite believe it. But after a long time, I think it might be possible.
