China had a M16 copy called CQ but still made type 97.

CS/LR17 is probably in some regards inferior to QBZ191 as China picked QBZ191 for itself.

I wonder if it's possible to get a look of the action inside at the expo?

Not necessarily.

They are showing increasing domestic only systems across all domains (air, ground, naval) at Zhuhai, beyond only showcasing export oriented products.


I wouldn't be surprised if the eventually had a 191 export variant chambered in 556 or 545, but I think the current display is more just to indicate "we are showing this new rifle that we are using".
