The Epoch Times publish a lot of complete crap, but those guys have $$ and their newspaper is wide-spread. At LAX International Airport in Los Angeles, you can find free copies of their newspaper there. Since a lot of people who are waiting for arrivals are sitting there and getting bored, they pick up a paper and just read it. For people who aren't as well informed, they assume whatever that's on the paper to be true.

So how are they getting the funding to print these "free" copies in both English and Chinese editions and just give them away? Hmf.

Well, the last time I checked, the paper had an obvious Chen Shui-Ban slant (no offence to the Taiwanese). These are the same people that staged that altercation in front of Hu Jintao when he was making a speech on the White House lawn (I have a few choice words for their biased opinions, but I think it prudent not to say :coffee: )

The paper is a privately funded company based in New York as they allege in their description

. As for where they get their funding.....
"The paper's representatives insist the Epoch Times isn't controlled by Falun Gong and doesn't speak for Falun Gong -- though contributions from individual Falun Gong practioners help keep it afloat. "

I saw a Jamestown Foundation report recently where it mentioned that some of the moves going on between Hu and the PLA have to do with preparing for the CPC Congress in a few months, that the military is still more aligned with the Shanghai/Jiang Zemin faction, though Hu is seeking to change that balance. I don't know/remember how the balance is aligned in the Central Military Commission, though.
