I dont know if this was already mentioned, but this report is pretty grim for the chinese submarines, and its made by the USN´s ONI (office of naval intelligence). Of course the lvl of type-95 is just a projection. But being made by ONI, IMO its the most accurate you can get outside of the headquarters of PLAN.

Lol I posted this back in page 46, I think the general concensus can be summed by Tphuang's post:
"I don't know where they got their numbers, but it does raise a lot of questions. First of all, how do they know the quietness level of 095? Why do they say 094 is quieter than 093 when everyone else says it's the other way around. Of course, it's hard to believe that China would not at least develop something at the quietness level of Victor 3. I have to say that due to the mistakes in the other part of the report, i have a lot of doubts about the ONI report."

The chart is pure BS, another China bashing scheme.. by saying Russia subs are much quieter than PLAN subs, its implying the US subs are far far superior than PLAN subs.

A pure made-up, useless chart by some teenager level competence.

What are those mistakes? Are they serious enough that they invalidate the data about the submarines, and even the entire report?

There are so many basic errors. Even in the submarine section, they couldn't get right the number of each type of nuclear submarines China has. These are basic things that SOC's blog counted up just with satellite photos from GE.

And then you can go through the rest of the report.

They also claim that somehow the Ming is more quiet than the first Kilos China purchased, and that the Yuan is within spitting distance of the Lada....

But that raises the question of how China can build quiet SSKs but such absurdly noisy SSNs.

Much more possible that its not the 093/094 that they are following, but the improved 091G, then it might make some sense. Noisy level are NOT all that hard to reduce, despite what many believes.

I think this could be a new photo of 092. At least I have not seen this before. It should be taken after the major refit that it was undertaking.

HK Asia times newspaper pubilished an article that said US surveillance satellites will help support US Navy efforts to locate and track PLAN submarines.
