We try to enforce rules on the forum (Please Read the forum Rules of Behavior) that no pictures are posted here that are copyrighted without the express permission of the holder of the copyright.
At the same time, many, many pictures are out in the public domain that do not indicate any copyright and are therefore subject to the laws of the countries in which you reside. In the US there is a Fair Use Doctrine which indicates that such, non-copyright photos and material, if used purely for educational purposes and not for profit, can be used by others.
So, we hope that the photos posted here on SD follow these rules.
On occasion we have had things posted here where the copyright holder has contacted us and indicated that the material was not used or posted with their consent, in which case we remove the material and then warn the member.
To sum all of that up, if you use things posted here on SD, there is some feeling that it can be used elsewhere, but it depends on the laws of your particular country, and on whether the material is actually fair use, and non-copyrighted.
Basically use pictures posted here with common sense, and at your own discretion and risk.
