PLAN container ship thread

If you can put some false container tops on these for them to remain unseen until when you need them it would be awesome. You just drop them aside in water and do the task in hands.

Thats a dead-end strategy because you can only expect to pull such tricks off once or twice. Also, it implies that the only way you can strike a decisive blow against opfor is via such underhanded sneak attacks, which doesn’t bode well for your long term winning prospects.

Rather than having these perform such a niche role, I actually foresee the PLAN using these containers en mass to generate ludicrous volumes of fires and unprecedented fleet combat persistence by using such transports as basically self escorting auxiliaries and arsenal ships.

Already with just the weapons already integrated into the UVLS, the PLAN comfortably out sticks all rival AShMs, so such container ships can be dozens or even hundreds of km behind the PLAN fleets and still have range to hit opfor fleet elements before they have range against the PLAN ships.

If they really want to give people in the pentagon an aneurism, they can easily containerise some DF26s and the like for really hilariously overmatched range and punch.

Such container ships also makes some of the PLAN’s other unusual projects make a lot of sense, such as the unmanned high stealth corvette. Imagine a fleet of those unmanned stealth corvettes acting as the first layer of detection, anything they spot can be rapidly engaged by an overwhelming amount of firepower from a nearby container arsenal ship. Just these two cheap assets can be used en mass to allow the PLAN to have real time sensor and weapons coverage of basically the entire first and second island chains and beyond, all while requiring minimal primary fleet element support from the PLAN. Throw in ULUUVs and MPAs and even enemy subs will have a hard time punching a hole through that without massive risk and costs.

With modest investment in stealth corvettes and other support assets, China can easily enforce a naval blockade of Japan without needing to use any of its primary fleets. Not saying the rest of the PLAN can just stay home and chill, but they can be held back as QRF to rapidly move in and engage and major enemy fleet elements trying to punch through the blockade, and they can come in fresh and fully armed to take on enemy ships that have already expended much of their offensive and defensive ammo against the corvettes and container ships, and potentially having taken serious damage and even losses to capital ships.

It appears that some of the container-mounted equipment seen on the Zhong Da 79 might just be mock-up models. Posted by @缘枫辰 on Weibo.

Very interesting! I remember speculation along these lines when these containerized pics first started showing up. Makes one wonder even more, how much of what we are seeing is bluffing/psy-ops, how much is corporate showmanship, and how much is demonstration of real systems?

Even more meta, it could be a corporate demonstration of a real capability to conduct psy-ops. ;)

If the purpose to test out the container rig setup, then it is practical (i.e. cheaper) to hire/rent out smaller vessel such as those of ZHONGDA79.

Real deal full-on auxiliary arsenal ship will require something at least a PANAMAX to go for a practical loadlout.

Given how high the ZHONGDA79 sat above the waterline, those definitely are mockup.

And those slogans on the container? Probably humor by the project's staff. Some say that content creator 家有神兽 has fans amongst the arms manufacturing professionals, and one episode he released last year depicted how such auxiliary arsenal ship be used in conflict.
