With more and more ships-of-the-line being commissioned, the PLAN has been using the 022s less and less for the past few years. They go out for the occasional patrol but otherwise mostly stay in port. They are too specialised for their role and are maintenance-heavy owing to their pump jet propulsion. 2017 should be about the time they start getting mothballed.

It was a little surprising to me because they built a lot of them (80-90 ships?). I thought they liked them...

Wow, that was a surprise. I hope that at least they don't scrap them so they can be brought back out of retirement if there is ever a war.

Actually it had been talked around on several forums at Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China for a while. One of the reasons mentioned is PLAN is also looking forward to release personnel, especially experienced officers who can engage fast attack tactics - means quicker response, from these FAV. 2nd reason is original purpose and role of 022 had been too specific - bet on luck to target US AC. 3rd reason is about the commander, Admiral Wu Shengli, who is favoring on a real blue water navy. Wiki got data on Admiral Wu. As for links of why 022 been sealed (sorry it's in Chinese, but you should be no problem in translating):

It shows maturity as well. They realized 022 is a very niche platform and with all the other ships coming online and the focus on blue water navy it's time to slowly decomm them.
Maybe Pakistan and or bangladesh may be lucky recipients perhaps even Iran. I imagine a lof of the hulls are still in very good shape.

We seen a video like this last year, maybe this very one. Is it new or old?

Since this is just a take-off, it maybe new. Going through Hui Tong's blog -

According to him JL-9G take-off had no issues but the arrested landing was causing way too much stress. PLAN requires a redesigned/strengthened JL-9 version for arrested landing. But PLAN pilots can be practicing take-off with the existing JL-9G trainers.
