Generally I agree with you. The most effective anti-sub weapon the PLAN has is the Yu-7, which the PLAN was only able to build because it recovered versions of the american mod-46. If that hadn't happened, the PLAN would have no effective anti-sub weapon to speak of today. But having said that, China has aqquired more advanced anti-submarine warfare equipment from Russia, suc as the Ka-28 helicopter. If the theories about what the Chinese Ka-28s are armed with are correct, then China should have aqquired the SV3 depth-charge, PLAB 250-120 bombs, and Russian built homing torpedoes. As China's economy grows and the country becomes richer, we should be seeing more adavanced Russian anti-sub equipment arrivng in China - after all, China has recently made several major purchases of Russian naval hardware already. I think it could use some more advanced shipbourne ASW, since the only shipbourne ASW syastem the PLAN currently posseses is the Yu-7, which is only a very basic form of ASW.
