Okay, with this latest picture, I am going to go ahead and call I from my perspective and confirm this as a PLAN carrier..

So, although I have felt fro some time that it probably is the carrier...with them having placed this section on the vessel it has made it clear to me that it in fact is.

I would still like to see the stern...but I know what I am going to see there now in any case.

Gracias Jeff, you're da man!:D;)

At this speed of assembly, is it too optimistic to hope that the ship could be launched by mid 2016?

not too optimistic. seems about right, actually, since they've gotten over the waterline height in some 7 months and possibly installed the big machinery. another 10 or so months could indeed be enough to get all the basic modules in place, free up the dock for other contracts and start the long an labourous fitting out process..

This picture of her was dated back to late april:

So that's about six month's work to get her to this:

I believe at first they need position marked out where all the bottom most pieces will go. For the bottom part they decided to build the compartment outlines first then fill up the needed parts. I think it will be cumbersome to try assemble the bottom most sections sideways module wise, so they took extra care to line up everything properly.

Now I think progress will be faster, because once the bottom layer has been defined and fixed in place it is much easier (relatively) to slot the top pieces down in modules. Also the modules could have been built separately while they are laying the foundation so if some parts are already completed we could see even faster progress.

Maybe in another 6-7 month's time which is June next year we'll see her with angled deck, bow and maybe even bridge finished.

Doing PLA watching makes one wish that months would go past a bit faster, but also not too fast. Because how many six months does one have in one's life?

@Jeff Head- so, when can we make a decision on the CV wager? It's now at least a draw for those that say it was a carrier, right?
Well, there were two parts and they involved the 2nd and 3rd carrier.

I can say that the first part regarding the 2nd carrier has been resolved.

We now need to see the 3rd carrier building before 2020...and I think it is almost a given that we will. But we have to see it and confirm it first.

Some may still not accept it on this one...but I am convinced over the next 8-10 months it will become patently obvious at first glance with the construction pictures that will come out.

The same may need to occur on number three.

didn't we see this before ?
This could be the module block added yesterday. Analysing the ground in the photo, this module block was probably not inside the dry dock. There is joint barricade/ security fence and what looked like rail track for 3 wheelers (of the crane?) on the ground in the photo.

There are many completed modular blocks next to the dry docks.
