If the island structure remains largely the same as with the CV-16, then we're looking at one of the 6 major blocks that will make up the end product (3 lower and 3 upper?).

From the looks of it, I think the module in the picture depicts the forward 1/3 of the island, and from the base of the island up to the top deckhouse.

The geometry of the island from even what little we see so far definitely looks different to CV-16, but the overall footprint on deck may be similar.
Whether it will feature the same exact mast as CV-16 is another matter -- I expect it to field the Type 346A arrays rather than Type 346 arranged in a 45 degree canted way similar to 052C/D, Burke etc. Whether it will feature the same Sea Eagle radar as on CV-16 is also unknown.

The Chinese have messured every single metall plate of Varyag before finishing it as Liaoning. And now they use there knowledge to build a second Liaoning in very short time. So we can expect, they understand how to build a carrier.
Only a STOBAR, a CATOBAR CV is a color of a different horse. I suspect China's first venture into CATOBARland would be long and meticulous.

The Chinese have the learning process with STOBAR aircraft carriers very well planned and executed. If they do it that way with CATOBAR aircraft carriers, they will also succeed the first time.
