In addition to what SamuraiBlue said above, when will we see pictures of J-15s taking off and landing with dummy munitions to simulate combat loads?

We have had pictures and videos of it in the past... a year ago or more they were seen carrying A2A missiles, AShMs, and dummies for 500kg bombs (possibly to simulate PGMs).
You can find all these on the internet through your own search.

They likely have also done take offs and landings with more ordnance as well, as they say they've taken off at MTOW a year or so ago, I believe... so chances are we just aren't getting pictures or videos of those exact tests.

Very interesting paper from chinese journal of aeronautics funded by Beihang university about modelling obstacle avoidance and path planning aboard a carrier... article can be read directly, open source.
I'm not sure if this paper will be directly applicable for China's carrier programme, but it just goes to show that a lot of studies would have gone into it.

Here is a larger version of what fzgfzy posted for comparsion. And he says his estimation was a little off because he predicted 001A should be up to hangar deck level by October this year. But from the pics it's not quite there yet.

This picture is adding to the possibility that this hull is a carrier. We even see part of the ramp.

It would certainly mean that the PLANB will have a CATOBAR carrier in the works. Perhaps after whatever is currently being constructed.

I agree. I dont think that they will begin construction of a CATOBAR carrier before this dalian carrier (if its one) is finished. But i could be wrong on that, specially if the dalian hull takes a lot of time to build and the CATOBAR carrier is built someplace else (in shanghai i presume).

The main issue is: how advanced is the chinese catapult program?

I have a new idea. Liaonings successor gets a ski ramp, which can be easily removed later. Unlike Liaoning itself, where the dismantling of the ski ramp would be an intrusion into the vessel's structure.

The demo module looks a bit strange. Anyway it is not reminiscent of the bow shape of Liaoning.

The demo module of both DL and JN were quite strange... DL's vaguely reminiscent of a ski jump and bow, while JN's was similar to a small sized transverse cross section of an entire hull.

The important part of that picture is the module of the hangar walls and roof... as others have said, the ski jump shaped thing is the DL demo module from way back.

Just in case anyone wanted to know...Ships do not have walls and roofs/ceilings or floors.:rolleyes:

Ships have;
ceilings/roof = overhead
floor= deck
walls= bulkhead
door= door like a door in a home:eek:
Door=..in the deck is a hatch.

On a USN CVN 'the roof' is slang for flight deck.
