the author lingling has very low credibility.

but the issue is, there are so many theories regarding Zhang downfall. from coup to this nuclear secrets to undermine Xi's authority. actually nobody knows the exact information what happened.

Even without treason, there wery harsh language and accusations in official PLA newspaper.
Zhang and Liu, as senior officials of the Party and the military, have gravely betrayed the trust placed in them by the CPC Central Committee and the CMC, and seriously trampled on and undermined the system of ultimate responsibility resting with the CMC chairman, the PLA Daily says.
They have severely fueled political and corruption problems that threaten the Party's absolute leadership over the armed forces and undermine the Party's governance foundation, according to the editorial.
They have gravely tarnished the image and authority of the CMC leadership and severely damaged the political and ideological foundation of unity and progress among all military personnel.
They have inflicted grave harm on efforts to strengthen political loyalty in the military, the military's political environment, and overall combat readiness, posing a serious adverse impact on the Party, the country and the military.
The investigation against Zhang and Liu will help the military undergo a thorough renewal, injecting powerful momentum into the development of a strong military, says the PLA Daily.

Could also help with the extreme conservatism that the PLA is known for and introduce some well needed change in certain areas like PLAGF troop equipment standardisation and training. That is of course assuming they do intend on actually reelecting people to the CMC and not simply keep it this way.

Yep pretty much. It does make you wonder how fucked up the PLA Rocket Force is. Four out of the past four commanders have been arrested. The head of China National Nuclear Corporation has been arrested. Ma Xingrui, the former head of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, another major rocket force supplier, was removed as the secretary of Xinjiang less than four years after appointment and hasn't been seen in public since.

I am rather skeptical of this claim regarding "China National Nuclear Corp," which hardly has anything to do with the weapon despite the name. However Zhang indeed can get access to all technical detail from one way or another.

As has been my consistent view throughout the “leaks" since 2023, the "leak" is good thing for deterrence unless it went into super detailed technical data. China's strategic deterrence needs more transparency than secrecy to deter a war unless Xi really wants to fight a nuclear war.

That being said, these posture/planning should have been used as bargaining chips during arms control talk instead of being come out this way as WSJ claimed.
