PLA soldier shot in Terrorist attack

its not like they havent killed enough civilians last year in Lhasa

they do it simply to attract foreign attention. there is no hope for them to win a PR war within China's borders

You're contradicting yourself.

in a lot of cases they are carried out to provoke a reaction from the government, and there are so many other ways of getting their points through.

Now you admit that the Tibetans directed their actions towards Beijing and not "foreign attention" like you said before.

You now say terrorism is to get a reaction. But since no one is taking credit for the murder of this soldier, what reaction are the terrorists expecting? So you guys want to argue that the murder of this soldier is terrorism? Where's the proof it's terrorism? Is every murder that takes place in China a terrorist act aimed to provoke the government into doing what?

omg you found a loophole in my argument?the fact that the terrorist attack in tibet was intended to provke Beijing somehow contradicts the assertion that it is trying to instigate reactions from western countries?i dont think i have to argue with you on that.

you dont even know everything that the Chinese government knows about this incident. obviously they know better about the law or definition of terrorism than we do. its so naive to make quick decisions based on incomplete facts. you might as well try to find possible reasons why the government of Chongqing decide to treat this as a terrorist attack.

Well your problem is that you're assuming too much. I'm not declaring it is or not a terrorist act. I'm questioning how do you know yourself when you don't have any proof but to assume what you believe the government is hiding.

the only things i am assuming here are bureaucracy and incomplete facts in the media. the only thing we shouldnt assume here is that we know everything that the government knows. i have been studying Chinese politics al my life, and i know they dont label an incident a terrorist attack for no reason. this is not the first attack on soldiers that has ever happened. similar offences have been committed on NK borders and perhaps elsewhere, and none of those were treated as terrorist attack. so to say that the Chinese government simply dont know what they are doing is pretty rash.

Would it be possible to get back on to the actual news event itself rather than engage in an argument over whether it was an act of terrorism or not? Has anything happened subsequently or is it just a case of personnel dies on duty and it's being investigated?

Thank you Mr T. Get back on subject or this thread will be closed!:nono: Knock off the Tibet chit chat.

Thanks for posting those links. Humm?? Perhaps this was not a terrorist attack but the work of criminals?
Probably. The city had a big move against organized criminals last fall, in about 3 months. They arrested about 10,000 people, seized several thousands guns and fake guns, and more knifes. You can see some photos here
