We always do, but it’s the first belt-fed LMG after RPD

The actual news will be what cartridge it fires.
Russians are firing a full powered one, whereas china and america are shooting intermediate.

Notable that america is moving towards a full powered.

Russians is moving towards to intermediate. They made RPK-16 and RPL-20(belt-fed).

The soldiers from the pic are from a special operation unit. It's likely for SOF squads to have that belt fed LMG but we can't yet say for sure about the big army.
belt fed LMG cost more than drum fed LMG. But I think the b-f LMG will replace d-f LMG in PLA in the future

You don’t have to guess, PLA hates the drum mag 95LMG uses,it’s chunky and relatively unreliable, just like other military in the world , they tend to carry only one drum and multiple standard mags, the thing is, PLA doesn’t have a 40-60round mag like the Russians do

We’ve seen many hundreds, if not thousands of high quality images of different QBZ-95 variants over the past 20 plus years. What’s so interesting about this particular image? It’s not aesthetically pleasing, nor does it reveal anything new as far as I can tell.

Sinodefence is not an image aggregating website. Please be more judicious with what images you choose to share.

Why did they go with drum mag after having it on type 81 if they dislike it so much?

Coffin mags are just as unreliable as you often have double or triple feed issues. extremely long magazines are awkward and Belt feeds demand a different gun which Will usually be heavier and more complicated.
