okay, problems.
one, what do you mean by SpecOps, i know it's special force, but in china Recon is mostly considered as SpecOps.
two. there is no 87 in services anymore, the latest pictures show they are in some of the Armed Police units, there are a small amount of 87s. special forces use the same weapon as the other units, mostly 95s. my source in the army told me, "my unit is not equiped of 95s, the Recon units are"
three, where are the sniper rifles.
four. 56C is actually in some of the marine special units, it's very rarely seen on ships, the newest picture shows it's used on a Submarine. Most ships are issued of 81.
five. no 87 in airborne either, as in chinese, "old calendar", only a few pictures show paratroopers with 87 posed for camera, it doesn't mean they use 87. from 81 to 95, people served in the paratroop said.
six.there are a few 56IIs or 56-2s exist in the world. as when 56-2 came out, the 81 and 82 was in progress and 81 made its way to the front and finally entered services, so 56-2 was not issued to many units and quickly replaced too.
seven, reserves use 56s, or many 56 semi-auto (SKS), my friend is in reserves. maybe 81 will be issued to them as the regulars use 95s.
eight, what's PAP?

extra.
92 is not being issued very fast. by now i think they still use 54, i have to check with that.

please correct as i am wrong.

1. A brigade size SpecOp unit is attached to Military Regions, Recon is attached to every individual Division/Brigade and lower units

2. i've seen pictures of type 87s in SpecOps, i'll look for them

3. i'll do that later, w/ RPGs and Sniper rifles

4.alright

5.Here's Airborne w/ Type 87
airborne_2lg.jpg

6.There are tons of Type 56IIs floating around in the world. Think Iraq, Sri Lanka, Pakistan etc. etc.

7. PAP=People's Armed Police

1.ja, we call them special forces, sometimes they have their own "special names" now they are all under one special force patch. and they do use 95 now, no more 81 for them. unlike the west, speical force personel could choose their won favourite weapon( sometimes), PLA special forces are mostly bonded to the orginal weapons they use in the regular unit. but i won't close it like that, sometimes they use different weapons, very rare.
2&5 87 was a type of rifle that's supposed to prove the corp that the 5.8 is useable, and it's a type of rifle to be in the parade. it was never OFFICALLY issused to any of the units. but i think some of the units did use it for a short period of time. airborne troops is an army, there might be a few units used to for a short period of time to test it, but never equiped. and the pictures you saw airbornes posing with the rifle, is only for the camera....they could be posing for the camera men, or just on a test field. in china, we call it " the show pictures". what units really use, you should alwasy ask the people who had served in them.

6, sorry, my mistake, i used to think 56-2 were not issued. while 56-2 was out, 81 was almost out, so 56-2 was in services for a short time, and it doesn't have a very much improvement as 81 rifle, so i think the rest was just exported to the rest of the world. today 56-2 is less seen in china , much, MUCH less seen in china than 56 and 81. it's funny, because i didn't see 56-1 a lot either.
7. errrrrrr i don't really think PAP is the offical short term for armed police.

and i present you one of my favourite special force pictures of
special force in erna raid 2005, it's the marines.
by the way, in china Recon force is like greet beret, it's not special force, but it's more or less.

My grandpa told me that they use a conventional style rifle in the PLA that does not resemble the 95. He said it looks like the M-16....

could it be the 03???

Banned Idiot
the 03 and 87a are far superior weapons to the 95? why did china have to go for a 95? the 03 combines the powerful 5.8, polymers with a good old ak.
