That is one of a number of potential uses for such a weapons system.
mid we use the US M134 as a a base we see a range of uses.
The configuration seen in the image is an excellent example of potential use supporting Special Forces. Although the Z11 is rather small it’s a good choice for inserting SF into Urban areas and that configuration would allow a lot of firepower in countering opposing forces attacking your SF team.
moving to the heavier vehicle like Z20 would similarly give fire from the high ground onto enemy forces.
It could also be offered as a mounted weapon on light attack helicopters like those found in early models of the Cobra and Hind series.
Or even be used in a light fixed wing Gunship like the Puff the Magic Dragon. Or padded and mounted on a COIN Trainer or helicopter.
Outside of Aviation Minigubs have been used on light patrol boats offering similar capacity listed above but for the Marine environment.
the Maritime militia comes to mind as would the coast guard.
for a smaller boat or landing craft it would offer an impressive suppression.
In combat in the Middle East the US sometimes mounted M134s to Humvees and Light tactical trucks as well as MRAPS. Insurgent forces whom encountered such quickly gave them a wide birth.
A less overt platform is also a potential carrier.
You Closet GTA players know what I am talking about, and in Reality it was done too. A few years back Dillon Aero systems who manufacture models of the M134 for the US DOD showed off an interesting set up for their product. They mounted it on a pop up mount under the roofline of an armored black GMC Yukon XL SUV.
The same kind of vehicle that often escorts or even transports VVIPs like Presidential motorcades. In said configuration it would be a Counter Ambush vehicle.
With President Xi bringing his own armored Hongqi Limo with him in recent year it wouldn’t be hard in a few years as more Y20 become available to imagine a motorcade escort using this gun system built on a Armored SUV, or even selling them for internal security and protection of friendly nations.
That's a thermal (or NV) unit, so "sight picture"/parallax doesn't apply. You're not looking "through" the thing. It's projecting a video on a screen.
But it still looks silly, because it seems redundant... At night, the gunner should be wearing NVGs and aiming with an IR laser. There is no need for a thermal/NV scope on a minigun mounted on a chopper, I think. You're suppressing an area with that thing, not taking accurate potshots... Save those things for your Designated Marksmen and Snipers.

the carry Handle makes more sense than the one seen before, to use the old one you would have to remove the scope. This if it’s weight and balance is analogous to the Cheytac Intervention would mean that the weapon sits perfectly right there.
