As long as they just turn it on for a few seconds is okay. If you are in the ORP (objective Rally Point) area, that's when your squad or platoon takes into account both noise and light discipline to the next level. According to those pic. it looks to me like they were still behind "friendly" lines before crossing onto enemy territories to do whatever that they need doing such as prepping for equipment, checking at land maps, eating your MREs, etc.
