When China and the US work together, nothing can't be solved. If only we see both sides cooperate more and do these kinda things...

100% correct.. I hope Peace breaks out in the Pacific!

When ever I see these type of photos that are posted below they always refer to these troops being mustered out of the service because their two year commitment is up as retired. How can they be retired after only two years? Is something lost in the translation? Someone please explain. Thanks!

OK..I need an answer here..

Why are these soldiers crying? They should be happy there are "getting out". If they are so sad that they have to "retire" Why don't they reenlist? I just don't get it. Just who is allowed to reenlist in the PLA?

Another thing. Why does the PLA have every one go to basic training at the same time and get released *(retired)) at the same time? I've been following the PLA for eight years and I don't get it. Won't that make for personal shortages for periods of time?

I think they ade crying because they are leaving friends and comrades behind.

The Chinese caption just says they are mustering out, it said nothing about how long they served. I'm not sure about the 2 years thing as I know that there are PLA soldiers and officers who serve far longer.

I'm guessing that two years is the term new soldiers sign on for, and at the end of that time, they are free to either muster out or re enlist, provided they did well enough in those two years that the PLA would want them back I suspose.

A Chinese proverb says "天下不无不散之宴席" (roughly translate: "There is no party that never ends"). People are happy when they meet, and feeling sad when they have to say "goodbye" to each other. To understand the above situation, you need to understand the sentiment of the East. You can always see such cases at airport. When people send off their relatives or friends to foreign countries for long periods (study or emigration), tears flood, and for the above situation, after the farewell, they might never see each other again. That's how the East's society is like. So emotional, huh?

Thanks SteelBird. I understand that every culture is different.People in the US cry also when people leave or return. Normal human behavior. But I never saw anyone crying when they got out or were being transferred...Family reunions after deployments..yes..

Further, that has become a culture that they "must" when they leave. Just like you have to wonder why N.K people cry so excitement when they meet and hold Kim's hands. It's more or less like a "show" to tell young people that how good it is in the army and how reluctant people are when they have to leave the army. So, come on, join now, seats are limited!
