ZTZ-96As and ZBD-04s rolling on the street of Rizhao, Shandong. Identification numbers suggest that these vehicles are form PLA ETC GF, 71th GA, 2nd HCAB (LD11).

That road might will be unusable after this , that a battalion worth of gear driving though it without rubber tracks .
In my opinion who ever made the call of just to drive this short distance might made a bad call , cause unless you are in war times , you shouldn't do this.
These tanks are not light vehicles , and even tracked diggers will put down wood planks under the track to avoid permanently damaging the road.

Maybe , but then why an order was given this way . There isn't really a good reason to written up a exercise that need the unit to drive up though a civilian used road like this , it doesn't really provide a training that is unobtainable in other ways, and it doesn't justify destroying part of the road.
The only information that this maneuver will provide is , that yes , you can just drive up the road with metal tracks , but you didn't need this drill to confirm this.
