To celebrate the 73rd Anniversary of the founding of the PLAAF, here's an artwork for your appreciation.

Because the individual artwork sizes are way over the file size limit imposed in this forum, here's the link to the rest of the artworks:

Note: The biplane shown in the first artwork is the Lie Ning Hao (列宁号) light reconnaisance bomber. It is also the first ever plane that is built in China.

From TWese media, picked up by Hong Kong non-mainstream media (below, in Cantonese). Rough translation...

Recently, there was a China vs US standoff for 3 days in the skies of east Taiwan.... US launched 100 sorties, mainly F-16s from Guam with mid-air refueling, averaging 11 to 12 aircraft every 8 hrs.

PLAAF responded with 300 sorties, marking each US aircraft 3 to 1.

US action was to test PLAAF's readilness and response as well US ability to sustain sorties from Guam (assuming Korean and Jap US bases have already turned to ashes), but was rather shocked by the PLAAF's overwhelming response. Wanwanese AF did not get involved.

Yes I saw this being talked about in TW news but it's totally radio silence both from China and US media. Someone in Taiwanese news pointed out that if Liaoning and Shandong were put to sea they could between them easily generate 300 sorties in 3 days to the east of Taiwan, never mind if PLAAF is involved.

The other point that was hilighted was the fact the PLAAF planes were turned around sortie after sortie without any noticeable issues or retirements over the 3 day period the high availability was apparently very disturbing! I suppose because they always believed the Chinese planes, engines and aircrews would just crumple under stress!

Now they know Chinas response, it’s only fair that China now conducts 3 days of sorties to Guam, to test if it can sustain high tempo defensive operations, measure the readiness, response, repair or retirement rate etc.

It would be excellent data to compare.

Not enough tankers yet, however YY-20 production is ramping up, in few years we may see longer deployment by Chinese fighters.
