PLA AEW&C, SIGINT, EW and MPA thread

These attacks may be useful and cost effective. Why ignore them to preserve some "image". Many leading powers in whatever field are often too arrogant, like they're too above doing something the poor guy engages in. It's foolish to ignore something useful. White cat, black cat, as long as it catches mice remember.

ok so you will now use modern sophisticated KQ-200 for swarm attacks ?

great now we can also use J20 for these swarms attacks

these type of idiotic fanboy dreamers make the most ridiculous statements

even worse people like you are taken in by them

swarm attacks are done by generally poorer countrys who have limited high tech resources and use low tech solutions, which what a swarm attack is

China is a world leading power and does not need to use these kind of "desperate" techniques

You need reading comprehension where do I say swarm attack I said swarm meaning deploy large number of KQ 200 to hone the skill of tracking and finding submarine because now there are many KQ200 and US sub will be in SCS

lol you are so insufferable and it shows. Call everyone else a fanboy whatever. It is you with zero technical knowledge and a talent for trashtalking only. FYI I was referring ONLY to the idea of swarm attacks be it cheap drones or small missile carrying vessels. Not talking about KQ-200 something that is clearly NOT about swarming. That was so obvious and even then I made it clear the issue is with your attitude towards "leading power" not stooping so low as to employ swarm attacks. Sit down fanboy. All your posts are totally devoid of technical substance and ALWAYS filled with ridiculous notions of pride or disdain. It's like you have no emotional buffer between extremes. Half the crap you posted about before I noticed was about how Pakistan can get whatever it wants from China like it is entitled. Such useless posts not worth reading so you are ignored.

I think swarms here mean using an AWACS or J-20 to remotely control a cloud of small drones and other cheap, disposable platforms. This would create more "eyes and ears" (sensors) to cover large areas and more targets for opposing forces. Also, I don't think large nations are above using swarms. The U.S. is exploring swarm UAVs to reduce costs.

This may be a dumb question, but why are these plane turboprop not jet engine?
Because the turboprop Y-8/Y-9 is the best candidate currently available to the PLA airforce for anti-submarine warfare. Y-20 would be somewhat of an overkill, while the C919 platform is not mature enough.
Sure it probably still cannot compare to the jet-powered P-8C, but compared to PLA's earlier anti-submarine helicopters such as Z-9 and Ka-28, the Y-8Q is a much better platform and a much needed improvement.
