If in the information is true, it is definately a welcoming sign. As two the the biggest emerging economies and almost half of the population in the world, if China and India can put aside their difference and truely corperate economically and militarily, they can make a significant impact on global affairs.

On an unrelated note:

Talking about pressure!! That PFC is playing a game of Chinese chess with a Brigadier General. However, the picture maybe purely for show as the layout of the chess seems to be off

Wow.... those soldiers attaching a brick to their rifles to practise their strength and hold of their weapon is something simple, smart and effective. How come we never thought of that?

Thats one of those "With this we seek toughness" type of things

We used bit different method involving only small coin. We placed the coin atop the frontsight (which was shaped so that the coin hardly stood there even when the gun was motionless) and practised to pull the trigger so that the coin wouldn't fell. It was a great and simple method to practise the proper triggerhandling technique, the key to all sharpshootings.

There are rather more important things happening off camera.

The leaders of the SCO will be viewing the end of these exercises at the end of their conference, as both are running simultaneously (quite a message in its own right).

Perhaps more importantly is that the SCO is due to sign a formal "Protocol of Understanding and Co-operation with Russia other pet security project CSTO, (Collective Security Treaty Organisation) an organisation for former Soviet Republics. This agreement is due for signing at the Bishkek summit, if it goes ahead, then it makes the formation of a new Sino-Russo military block all the more likely.
