Outdoor Adventure Sports in China

As a outdoor enthusiast, I want to start a thread on outdoor adventure sports in China, including mountaineering, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, etc.

China produces a lot of the relevant equipment. But I think these sports are still at its infant stage in China, reflected in both low participation and unnecessarily high accidents.

As PLAGF's need for knowledge and skills to fight in forbidding terrains increase, I hope development in civilian outdoor adventure sports will close the skills gap in PLAGF training and equipment acquisition.

Our ancestral land we are fighting to defend:

To be honest, I feel that outdoor sports in China is only practiced by those living in China or those extremely passionate outdoor enthusiasts.

I think most of us here live overseas, and for myself at least, I simply don't have the time with even a 4-week vacation to do outdoor sports in China. I can always do hiking and biking in Canada (got some gorgeous landscapes here), so in China I want to visit family and see all the cultural relics.

Of course, sometimes seeing cultural relics intersects with mountaineering:

Those Tao priests must be seriously athletic to live there during ancient times!

That said, I feel like I do indeed do a lot of hiking in China... only not in wilderness but in cities lol.
