More nice pics sadim81! Thanks for posting.

What I really want the USN to do is send a CV/CVN to Quindao or Shanghai. Going to Hong Kong is no big deal for a CV/CVN. Does anyone think that will ever happen?..I must confess I started a thread about that subject in the old forum.

hehe I dont think a CVN would ever be able to sail up the Yangtze River into Shanghai, but a CVN pulling into Qingdao would be something to behold.

In my opinion though, I dont think we'd be able to see that for a while yet given the current current climate of suspision between the two nations, maybe when the next administration comes into office we'll see a change, but definately not before President Bush finishes his tenure.

Furthermore, I believe the CVs' recent port calls (by USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Kity Hawk & USS Constillation) to Hong Kong are a subtle way of showing political support for democratic reform in China. And a visit to the mainland by a CVN would certainly be seen by some in the US as an 'endorsement' of communist rule, giving the chinese government more political winfall. Can't really think of a reason China wouldnt want a visit by a CVN...so think this mostly rests with the U.S.

For Gauntlet; these following pics are from Peace Mission 2005. On 22rd Aug, a Udaloy class anti-submarine ship Marshal Shaposhnikov 543, and a Sovremenny class destroyer Burny 779 arrived in Qingdao before the 3rd phase of Peace Mission 2005, which was a naval blockade exercise.
