This is the real COVID Olympics. At least in Tokyo, they had strict protocol to prevent spread and people took it very seriously. Apparently in Paris, people don't even go home for COVID anymore; they're expected to sleep it out and compete whenever they feel up to it. That's why so many people are gonna catch it. And I don't even think there's mass testing; if you don't feel bad enough to report it, nobody checks so nobody knows how many people really have COVID.It was peaty. The 100m breaststroke silver medalist. I heard Aus also have some swimmer tested positive. And a separate incident where a swimmer sent home for some hanky lanky with her boyfrIend. At least thats wat was inferred lol
With this wildcard going around (literally), nobody knows what's gonna happen at this point. The later your event, the greater the chance it'll be a shitshow now. Half of winning now is a matter of not being in a heavily symptomatic phase of COVID right on your competition day. Who's the real champ if half the top contenders have some varying degree of COVID? Who knows?
