Well, now i see...... Kontak-5, probably 3BM42, vision of T-80U armor packages......

It's very interesting, thank you!

But could you clarify, in what year did China get the T-80U?
I do not know the exact year, but for sure it was shortly after collapse of USSR i.e. early 1990s. Some sources state late 1993, but these same sources say that China received 50 to 200 T-80U so I would not take their word 100% yet.

Shortly after the fall of Soviet Union, Russia under Yelsin was offering T-80s, BMP-3, Su-27, Mig-29 and Kilo submarines, basically the best conventional armament the Soviet Union deployed just before its fall, as barter debt payments to settle hard currency debts incurred under the USSR. It is very possible the Russians offered a few T80 to China in return for some debt forgiveness.

I dont think so but that tank in the video is VT-4 and not Type98/99 so wrong thread. However It could be the Type-99A uses the same type of components as VT-4

I apologize, this video I threw out in the context of the recent discussion about the rear speed of 99A and comparing transmissions CH1000(99A) and CH1000B (VT-4)
