Interior is likely extensively different to A.
A's equipment represents China's technology of the early 2010s/2000s.
A's immature design and manufacturing processes led to initial mid-2010 high failure rate, numerous leaks and unsatisfactory adaptability in some extreme environments.

B represents China's tank advancements in the 2020's with rapid technological advancements in the past decade.
B is to address many of the shortcomings of A.
Seems to heard from various sources that 99B uses a new engine and transmission as the original 150HB powerpack although on paper caught up to western mainstream at the time was in fact pretty mid in real life with shotty reliability and also apparently terrible high altitude performance.

AFAIK, 99B will probably continue to be produced for a while as a filler tank to replace all stuff from before the late 90s (96, 96A, 88, 79 etc), same with ZBD04B. While Type 100 replaces the units down south and new 4th gen MBT (Possibly the 7 wheeler?) replaces the original Type 99A units.

Yes there is large requirement, but using open source available information there are roughly 1300 of the ZTZ99-series tanks, roughly 2500 of the ZTZ-96 series tanks and roughly 500 of the ZTQ15 tanks.
That is roughly 4300 tanks.
Using the 33x CAB and the couple of HVY CA Regts requirements (112 tanks in each CAB : each CAB has 4x BN, each BN has 2x Tank companies of 10-14 tanks), that meets the requirement and a few more, right?
The roughly 500 ZTQ15 is enough along for 4 CABs and have a few for the PLANMC.
Now given open source assumes for errors, we may have a few ZTZ79s out there, but it is extremely unlikely there are ZTZ59/ZTZ69 tanks left in the PLA.
Agreed. Probably still some ZTZ-88s, even if only in reserve service.

It's a CGI based on real tanks, these are testbeds with mockup Type 99A turrets installed on Type 59 hulls.

Kinda looks like the mock-up turret shown in the news a couple of months ago.

The purpose might be to use a couple of cheap disposable remote controlled type-59 chassis to simulate moving targets and possibly doing maneuvers in formation to assess performance in more realistic operational scenarios, and/or maybe also simulating the signatures of an actual MBT for smart munitions. With that said, in addition to the recent photos of APS mounted on ztz-96a, it seems that the PLA might be finally getting pretty serious about retrofitting APS on its in-service MBT fleet.

But my gosh have the sizes of MBTs grown over the decades.
