New Type98/99 MBT thread

Added more armor isn't necessarily a bad thing as Western MBTs tend to be way more protected.

They also tend to be very heavy, all in the 60+ ton range. It looks like the Type 99A2 is getting close to 60 tons as well. This tank looks so different from the A1 version that it really should have a new name.

Don't want to spoil the party but I really don't see any difference between the tank in the lower picture and pictures of the existing Type 99 that have been posted before.

The tank turret in the first picture appears taller, but I can't be sure it's not from distortion of the picture.

Really? They look pretty different to me. The turret in both pics look much "thicker" overall(taller, wider, longer), and the raised backside of the chassis is also a significant difference. These pics look consistent with the previously published 99A2 pics. For example, check out the smoke grenade launchers on the side on the 99A1:

Compare that with the 99A2(I used a clearer pic):

Notice how parts of the launchers are above the turret in the A1 while the A2's turret is quite a bit higher? You can see the same thing in those 2 pics posted above, but they're not as clear.

This is huge news!! It's China's next generation tank (rumored name T-99KM). Possibly the most powerful tank in the world.

Why do I always get the feeling that the images are compressed horizontally in those screenshots?

Looking at the logos and words, I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure they're not compressed.

But what tank is in that first image?
