Hi, this is Gessler from Vizag, India

I was active in many defence forums online for a number of years now and decided to join SinoDefence to take
part & learn from the discussions going on here! I have seen the professional presence of many Navy-related
people like Jeff Head (warships and naval warfare happen to be my area of particular interest) and I wish to
learn from them, also sharing the knowledge I have with other members when it is required.

So there, welcome me into the forum!!

Hello there, I'm "Ghost", a 21 year old from the United Kingdom but of Chinese ethnicity (If you're after something to put on your CV when applying for the NSA, or just want to know where I live, feel free to decipher the RIPEMD-160 hash I've set as my location. ;)).

I've been browsing this forum for a while now, but I figured it was about time I took a more active part in the discussion that goes on here. My main interest lies in the emerging spectrum of Cyber-Warfare, and in particular, highly-sophisticated nation-state malware along the lines of Gauss, Flame, Stuxnet etc. This area, even when we've seen some of its capability, is still very under-researched and under-developed. The fact that something in its infancy can be so capable already really boggles the mind. It will be very much interesting to see the next Gauss and what it could do.

I am also however fascinated by Fighter Jets (where this forum is renowned for fantastic discussion by expert members like Air Force Brat and Engineer) and Warships (where members like Jeff Head provide professional knowledge). The maiden flight of the J-20 was a moment of great pride for me in how far China has come and I equally look forward to seeing more PLAAF/PLAN related developments being analyzed and evaluated here.

Some of my personal interests include Cryptography (who would've guessed? ;)), Data Science, Technology and Finance. Sports-wise, I'm a keen Badminton and Table Tennis player. For leisure I like to play Poker. A slightly unhealthy addiction perhaps but one which, with luck and skill, will be very profitable :D.

Looking forward to contributing to the best military forum on the net!

Kind Regards,

Ghost.

You're too kind Ghost, more of just a pilot/enthusiast, hence my moniker the Air Force Brat. I think you will enjoy our discussions of all the aspects of fighter aircraft, its a little quiet now, as not too much is going on, feel free to pm if you have any questions, and I know you will enjoy the discussions with some our our very knowledgeable members.

Welcome Ghost and Jason.

Glad to have you both.

I advise you both to please read the rules of behavior we maintain here.

We have many very experienced and professional members here with decades of experience in military equipment, design and use of all manner. Please learn from them, snd feel free to on tribute.

Jason, congrats on your degree...but you may want to learn from many of the people here with as much and more education, coupled with decades of experience.

I too have a very good education, and taught some graduate courses about 34 years go, before moving on to industry. My dad, who was a combat officer in World War II, and then later wrote his own thesis on Thermo Dynamics as it regarded military aircraft design at the time while working 48 years as a lead engineer at a leading US defense contractor, taught me the following about college and graduate degrees...it has served me well over the years, and I pass it on now as a grandfather myself.

We all know what "BS" means.

MS is "More of the Same"

PHD is "Piled Higher and Deeper"

Education...good education, is critical. But it is really just the start.

Bravo Zulu.
