Since this is a new J-10 thread, I would like to add that if the J-10 is in high rate production this year, perhaps China should request to have the J-10 fly a demonstration at the next Paris Airshow or something. I'd love to see this aircraft fly. And what better way to show China's aircraft development than a public display. What do you guys think?

I totally agree with sea dog, we have all saw JH-17 fly in action, but never
J-10.

But after saw JH-17 in action (very sweet). I would expect more out of J-10 in climbing rate, and manuvebility.

I have been hoping to see J-10 in action since 2004, so I would not let my hope up. I guess China just not ready to show their best toys to the public yet, even if they are willing. I would say the display would be in the zhuhai.

It's just a thing with Chinese, they are just incredibly paranoid about showing their latest stuff. btw, it's JF-17 and JH-7, never heard of JH-17. Especially since Americans have been playing up the flanker threat and it's capability is known. China tries to keep the capabilities of J-10 down a little bit, so the Americans won't know how good it really is. Most people would estimate that flankers are better than J-10, when it really is the other way around. So Americans would probably be more prepared toward flankers. At least that's what I think China's secret plan is.

You may be right. I've heard that J-10 is built to outclass Flankers in maneuverability. But still, if China is paranoid about showing its complete maneuvering envelope, then they could fly a more flat show. They could fly it more like a Flanker during this type of demonstration. I think they should do it myself.

Is there a reason why we have never seen a j-10 in a Plaaf excercise, although it;s been in service for nearly two years now?

Americans know how to fight a flanker because they have purchsed them in the past from russia. Thats why I'm against China selling the j-10 to any other nation, perhaps except pakistan. This is so the nation does not retail the fighters to the u.s

actually, J-10 has definitely been in plaaf exercise in the past. Probably against every other fighter in the plaaf inventory. The results have even been posted in several Chinese military magazines, but of course, calling it "new Jian" rather than "Jian-10". Of course, since these are not in English, it's often hard to take them seriously if you are an English speaker. If you look at plaaf, the Americans probably have had a good look at every other fighter in plaaf. That's how they discovered what a piece of junk J-8II was. I'm sure the Americans have a pretty good idea of flankers and fulcrum by now with all of the exercises that they have been in.

I do agree with Sea Dog though, a simple flight demonstration that does not show the complete manuverability probably won't do much harm. I guess pla is just too ingrained in the "Art of war" philosophy.

China does not put entire new aircraft in airshows outside of the country. And in the last few years or so, they have also stopped displaying real aircraft in internal airshows and defense expos either. The closest thing you might ever see a chance for them to actually be in a public display would be the military parade on National Flag Day in October.

The best way to get an idea of the plane's performance might be to make a computer simulation based on known and estimated data.

Here is one alleged exercise involving Su-27SKs and J-10s.

New pic of no. 1013 with SD-10 !!! :D

And just one question regarding the ongoing discussion on later or earlier aircraft, prototypes, pre-serial and serial machines and their differences !

I always thought that the later production machines can be distinguished from their earlier cousins’ esp. by their 3-part gear door arrangement. For that particular bird “1013” we assume it as a pre-production machine and we know many pictures of it with the older two-door arrangement.

Then there appeared that strange PL-12 equipped J-10A picture with the typical light grey-blue grey older camouflage with the latest doors but its numbers erased !

Here on this picture it seems that our old friend no. 1013 now has the new doors re-fitted !!!

Any comments ???
