US Navy flight training guide… In the guide it lists a few possible enemy aircraft, one of which being the “J-10 Firebird.”

Hello, Here is reporting name "FLANKER K2" for J-15. What is "FLANKER K1"?

FLANKER N = J-16
FIREBIRD C = J-10C
MORK = Y-9JZ
CH-AS-5 Keystone = KD-20
CH-AA-7 Adze = PL-12
CH-AA-10 Abbadon = PL-15


FLANKER X4 (probably teporary des.) = J-16


MALT = Y-8?
MOLE = Y-8?

Usually names didnt use words whose original meaning was meant to convey danger or threat. (Though some were tools or dangerous animals.)
But abbadon takes it to a whole new level. Subtext much?

Why is it a big deal? NATO reporting names are frequently used by the media, sometimes in place of the original name.
