Apparently Startship in expendable configuration will be capable of lifting 250 metric tons to LEO!

Something is fishy as always. The engine's performance and the rocket's dry/wet mass ratio are all almost known. There must be some secret that SpaceX is withholding. Don't believe everything Elon Musk says, there is always something that he is not saying which is more truth-telling.

Play around with the calculator by trying higher than possible impulse and lower than possible dead weight and see if you can get the published figures.

The following are calculation on default settings based on known factors such as Lox/Methane FFSC. The 250t is a 37% improvement, while 150t is 117% improvement. I am not aware of any known technology that can make this calculation so far off.

I wonder if it is possible to develop a SSTO version of Starship.
Any rocket can be made SSTO, but the penalty of usable payload would be too great to worth the effort, Starship is no exception, just look at the payload penalty of the reusable mode.
