The irony is if elves, dwarves, and Hobbits were real, these very white supremacists would be waging genocide against them.

I was reading a comment to the news story about the Chinese scientist that was charged by the FBI for spying for China and later dropped due to lack of evidence going on to make an important discovery and someone says he didn't really discover anything because he used tools invented by white people to make that discovery so it was a white person's discovery. By that logic chemistry was witchcraft to whites so that would mean China is the reason why Westerners are not still chucking spears and shooting arrows at one another because China opened the West's eyes to an advance level of weaponry since they thought chemistry was witchcraft and would've never discovered it on their own.

This diversity washing is nonsense. Tolkien even described people's eye color.
There are non-white humans in the Eastern side of the Middle Earth continent but those are on the other side of the story for the most part. For example non-white humans attack the heroes side with Oliphaunts in the second or third book of LoTR.

Look, we could watch Otello with an all black cast with a white Otello, but it wouldn't, like, be the Shakesperean version of Otello would it?
LoTR is basically Tolkien's mind warp of WW2 in case you never heard of it.

If they couldn't have sex with women they would be waging a genocide against them. Anything different from them is to be controlled or destroyed by them. What their little brains can't comprehend is if elves and dwarves and hobbits existed, they would feel no kinship. They would be another race that's different from them. They hate other races who are human with different skin color and facial features. What the difference from pointy ears to slanted eyes? These idiots think when Tolkien wrote his books, he wrote them as white people but they're another race entirely.

Ugh, first the Witcher, then Wheel of Time, and now Lord of the Rings.

This tokenism destroys any wish on my part to watch these series.
Hey man, to be fair, the series do have to reflect their respective societies embodies especially the demographics that they are trying to attract and not just the hard core elitists that'll always bitch and moan about their fave x,y, z getting ruined or changed for x,y, z reasons.

I was initially leaning on the skeptic and even hating on the Rings of Power purely based on the seemingly out of control SJW that's been labeled on this show and casts on various social media like YouTube, and elsewhere. But, I like to think of myself as open minded and listened/watched a review by a YouTuber that I have been following (am a big LOTR movie fan) who's pretty much an encyclopedia when it comes to everything Tolkien and his LOTR books, along with Peter Jackson's LOTR movies. He gave his unvarnished opinion on the series on what he likes and what he didn't like giving a fairly objective and less ranty reviews that I have been able to watch from other nerds that are just having a full on hatorade on the series before the show has even aired it's first 2 episodes.

I must say, thank goodness that I gave the sober YouTuber a listen to because In my humble opinion, the show rocks. There's a bit of a push for a female protagonist in making Galadriel character as a warrior princess type which sort of conflicts with how her succeeding role is going to play out in the overall LOTR film lore for reasons am not going to delve into.

If you're a fan of the LOTR movies, I say give the series a shot and decide for yourself and do tell us what you think.

Well that is the objective of the alt-right to get you not to watch it.

It's got nothing to do with alt-right.

If you have little invested in the source material, these liberties would not bother you.

If, on the other hand, you are attached to the source material and have certain expectations on how the characters should look based on descriptions in the source material, then these changes become extremely jarring and off putting.
