Movies in General

As I see it there are two types of action movies therefor demand two types of actors.

Movies like "Save Private Ryan", "Gladiator". These movies are serious, more about the actors ability to express some ideas. It demands more skill in performing and LESS on the looks. Outlook beauty could be counter productive as a distraction. The actors just need to be average or a little above.

Movies like Marval comics adaptations, 007 are about "Glamour", there is not really much serious idea to express besides the simple "good vs. bad". In this type, the only value of the actors are their physical looks. These movies are essentially selling cosmetics, dresses, super cars etc.

Just because an actor may be good for the first type, doesn't mean he/she would meet the expectation for the second type.

Liu Simu looks a lot like Lei Jiaying, who is pretty big in China. I don't understand what the big fuss is.
Would you enjoy Dustin Hoffman playing Superman, or Henry Cavill? I admire Dustin Hoffman being a very good actor. As I said in another post, it is not about an actor being good or bad in performance, superhero movies are more like a beauty contest than serious acting.

Movies are the ultimate form of getting millions of dollars while giving you nothing back. So I would treat American moves with extreme prejudice if I was a Chinese reviewer. If a fly's leg hair didn't look good to me, the whole thing's banned. Wanna sell Spiderman here? Sure, but you gotta edit out all the webs... and you can't say "spider." My wife doesn't know who Simiu Liu is and honestly I don't have a clear picture either but I think he's a Chinese guy who said some anti-Chinese stuff before playing a highly stereotypical Chinese Marvel Character so she'd avoid him like a dog turd on a rainy street. If they want to ever have a chance to sell a move to China, let them sell their souls and make a movie like Lake Changjin, then maybe they can get a couple yuan. It's basically like paying someone some change to watch them lick your boots.

Gladiator is not a serious movie.

How can you say promote Asian Americans when Shang Chi is mostly Chinese based yet they failed to promote anything Chinese the hardest?

As for your second part, do you even know how Chinese regularly looks? This has nothing to do with unhealthy style but genetics. The Chinese in general have always had skinny bodies. If anything, your comment makes you sound like you know nothing regarding Chinese bodies and are trying to force other standards onto us. The only unhealthy thing here is how people always try to force the Chinese to become something they don't like and somehow see anything natural as unnatural not understanding we are different from others and have our own standards.
I think that's what @PanAsian was saying? Like it's supposed to be inclusive, but because it is "Asian American" it's not really Chinese or anything but "Asian American" which is its own thing? That's how I understood it anyway

Well since you ask, they are both very attractive but I would give Heart a 9 and Kim a 7-8. Anyway I am not sure that turning this thread into a ranking of actresses by attractiveness exercise is really what the mods are hoping for...

I write scripts and the majority have female leads. I personally like to watch a hot woman beat up a guy. Yes, I'm well aware that the woke crowd don't like a woman portrayed as being hot either. I'd be careful for any Asian male joining up with the ranks of the anti-wokeness crowd so easily. The anti-woke faction is really talking about white male dominance. The last season of Star Wars The Clone Wars there was a storyline introducing two new characters that were obviously Latina women and like clockwork the anti-woke crowd hated them. Why? Because Latins in space is an absurdity. Everyone knows Western whites will dominate space... In reality more Chinese will likely be in space than any other nationality. Hollywood will never depict that. Look at Star Trek where it's lauded as being a positive diverse look into the future. There are more extraterrestrial aliens seen on a starship than you see Asians. Anti-wokeness is about race too not only just sex. Comedian Louis CK is a hero of the anti-woke crowd. Not only is he sexist when it comes to women, he's also known for a bit in his comedy where he talks about how Asian men aren't men. The anti-woke crowd wants to put you in your place too just like a woman.
Um, Lt. Sulu was a major supporting character.

I never saw it to be inclusive with how hard they tried to please the Chinese and get it unbanned. They tried catering to the Chinese first before anything else and when that failed, they cried how it was China's fault they couldn't get into our market. Ignoring the stupid things the lead actor has said and the history of said characters they are playing as. If this is what the Asian Americans look up to then I pity them.
