This is the difference between Wang Yi and Annalena Baerbock.

Wang Yi is a professional diplomat. Annalena Baerbock is kind of like still new to the job. Sometime she comes across as being rather amateurish.

The Chinese are patient. Gave her their full attention. Looking at those pictures, one thing stuck me. This is probably the youngest foreign visitor these guys had to host. Since she was a young girl, they probably took it easy on her.

What Wang Yi said about China supporting German reunification was the best reply. No need to further talk about that too much.

Yes, this latest statement has nothing to do with 360 clown, but no, this is a change in stance on China’s part, but it is a change being closely co-ordinated with Russia, as can be seen from the Chinese defence minister visit immediately afterwards, which was announced before this statement.

I think there are many levels and angles at play here. At the most superficial level, it could be that the Russians themselves wanted this statement from China because they want all the glory of the eventual victory, and not have that tarnished by accusations that their victory was only possible thanks to Chinese arms.

At a deeper level, this could be more co-ordination between China and the pro-neutrality factions within Europe to try to help Europe scale back its military and economic contributions to this black hole for money and arms that Ukraine has become for them.

At the deepest level, this could be a trap for the most rabidly pro-American and anti-Russian ‘New Europe’ club countries with delusions of grandeur and dreams of empire. The Russians meatgrinders might have done their job and reduced the AFU’s manpower and materials reserves so much that their much vaunted spring offensive is at risk of still birthing before it could be launched. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that the likes of Poland, who already have sent and lost not inconsequential numbers of troops in Ukraine that now is their time.

The Ukrainians, through their heroic stubborn resisters have ground the Russians down. 95% of their special forces are gone; Wagner are down to penal legion lemming rushes; Russia is running out of everything from missiles to shells to washing machines and toilet seats and half their newly conscripted grunts don’t even know which end of a rifle to point at the enemy. And now even the Chinese are abandoning the Russians!

With a fresh, NATO army entering their field now, they can restore the Polish-Lithuanian empire, which includes Ukraine and a big chunk of modern day Russia. The time for New Europe to rise is now!
Where did that 95% figure come from?

Baerbock has no business being in a role with any responsibility. Given her "capabilities", her maximum post should be head of some irrelevant America-funded NGO.

She's the prime example of a flaw of western democracy. Where useless people from irrelevant small parties can hold large ministries because the larger party doesn't have a majority and has to form a coalition.

This is a very insightful comment. However, it's evident that the vile Anglo-Saxon creation which you described is precisely what Russia, China, and many other countries in the world are fighting against. Are you and the rest of the like minded Poles so Russophobic that you would rather join this evil just because it's fighting against Russia? I wonder, if Russians fights against an alien invasion aiming to wipe out entire humanity, are you going to side with the aliens?
I don't know who said this or if I read it on this forum. But this comment reminded me of a post it went something like this.

"The polish government would provoke China to war, just so China will fuck over Russia twice. The chinese army has to run over Russia to invade Poland and they will run over Russia again when they go back home. All that just to fuck over Russia twice"

Actually, that should be an ancient joke from Eastern Europe.

The Pole thinks about his wishes for the entire day and finaly decides. "Genie", he says, "I want the Mongol hordes to sweep through Poland." The Genie snaps his fingers and a low rumbling sound of hoofbeats is heard. Over the horizon come the Mongol hordes which ride down and kill everything in their path. They wheel around and ride back out. The farmer picks himself up and asks for the same thing for his second wish. Again the Mongols ride in and destroy everything in their path. Whatever they didn't kill last time, they kill this time. Whatever they killed last time, they set on fire. They wheel around and ride back out. The Pole picks himself up and asks for the same thing for his third wish. This time the Mongols don't even bother to stop since there isn't anything left to destroy. The genie just can't stand it any more. "You could have had anything. ANYTHING!", the genie says. "Why did you waste your wishes on this?" The farmer replies, "In order for the Mongols to ride over Poland three times, they would have had to go through Russia six times."

I'm really curious to hear from all these people thinking this was a "disaster" for China to list out what the geopolitical consequences exactly are from the meeting, how Chinese foreign policy is allegedly suffering for it right now, and what China could've done differently.

What did you expect, for Chinese diplomats to tell VDL to go f*ck herself? That's not how any of this works.
Of course it's not a "disaster", but it is a mistake to give Baerbock a platform to spread her hate. She's going to go back to Germany strengthened in their coalition government. She'll be seen as the more competent politician for dealing with China than the chancellor. Some in Germany will conclude that you can insult China as much as you like and China won't retaliate. So you can expect more Chinese investments in Germany to be blocked and future diplomatic visits won't include signing big deals, because apparently China hasn't demonstrated that it prefers friendly visits that focus on trade.

It's a small loss, but it will have an effect. The German coalition government is currently writing a China strategy document. As a result of this visit, expect it to be more hostile than it would have been otherwise. You can't charm people who hate you, you can only confirm their opinion that you'll smile even as they punch you in the face

5:35am: US should stop 'encouraging' war in Ukraine, says Lula

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said Saturday that the US should stop "encouraging war" in Ukraine "and start talking about peace".

"The United States needs to stop encouraging war and start talking about peace, the European Union needs to start talking about peace," Lula told reporters in Beijing at the end of a visit where he met with President Xi Jinping.

In that way, the international community will be able to "convince" Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky that "peace is in the interest of the whole world", he said before leaving for the United Arab Emirates.

Lula is carrying out a delicate balancing act as he also seeks closer ties with Washington. His visit comes after a meeting with US President Joe Biden in February.

Unlike Western powers, neither China nor Brazil have imposed sanctions against Russia after Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, and both seek to position themselves as mediators to achieve peace.

For Lula to say this, while in Beijing, he definitely likes to troll!

Notice how this Western reporting claims that Lula wants to carry out a delicate balancing act because he wants closer ties to Washington. They should have point out Lula comments on why should anyone use US dollar for trade.

That does not sound like a balancing act.

Sound more like someone on a high profile visit, suddenly jumping up onto the soapbox, and let it rip!

:oops::D

I think it was this joke but I could only remember the fuck over Russia parts.

Yeah, it’s annoying like that but if you think about it further, China is already benefiting from all those German CEOs going to China and moving their industry to China while hollowing out Germany, this helps Chinese prosperity at the expense of Germany and this woman basically helped it along while making it easier for China to care less about the ramifications on Germanys end when the cows come home to sleep . In the end, she is a scapegoat either way and this visit means very little in the long term. This will simply buy China more time to complete its moves while Europe and the U.S. remain focused elsewhere.
