Isn't CHIPS 4 a textbook example of government subsidization?
If these G7 nations cannot do things in a straight forward and honest manner, they many find themselves pointless to trade with given that should energy really run down low in Germany, France, UK and even the USA with how Biden is doing things, well what on earth can these nations provide that is worthwhile, it’s not like China/ Russia and even India have a heavenly mandated duty to subsidise these nations no matter how poor the treatment and how useless the payment is (I mean Euros and US dollar cannot really buy another thing that these nations cannot get from else where, I mean what does the EU have of value other then useless ideology and funny money). Should these nations cut off trade lines with these nations and the supply in those nations run low enough that even the elites feel it, will they be preaching even then, with the people angry and homicidal they will became given that these leaders are there to solve problems, not them them to go in a diet for Ukraine, a nation that quite frankly only benefits the MIC (and even then only for a short period of time) and absolutely no one else. Tourers mean everything, something that the G7 is simply not in abundance of right now with the energy supply grids as compromised as they are now by their own hand

That's not all. Their industries have been subsidized since forever (usually in the form of tax breaks, but also grants). It's another case (same as many thousands for them) of do as I say, not as I do.
Their industries don't even need subsidies because the moment a serious competitor comes up the American government sanctions it to death

So yeah, "free market"

The G7 trade ministers met on on 14 and 15 September. They clearly target China's economic model in their released communique after two days of discussions in Germany. Globalisation is fine but only according to their economical, political and cultural preferences.

1. Level playing field in the white mind: no use of subsidies and no state owned enterprises. When those are present the economic playing field is unfair. Targets China's mixed economic model.

2. We will develop new tools and international rules: they want to change the WTO rules book so that China will be forced to change its economic model more according to their taste: neoliberalism.

"Levelling the playing field and addressing economic coercion
We will sustain and further step up our efforts working toward a level playing field through more effective use of existing tools, as well as developing appropriate new tools and stronger
international rules and norms on nonmarket policies and practices. Our shared concerns Include unfair practices, such as all forms of forced technology transfer, intellectual property
theft, lowering of labour and environmental standards to gain competitive advantage,
market-distorting actions of state-owned enterprises, and harmful industrial subsidies, including those that lead to excess capacity.

We will also promote discussions at the WTO on how to improve transparency to shed light on and reduce challenges posed by non-market policies and practices that harm the global economy, and on modernizing the global trade
rulebook. We thank the OECD for its work in this area."

Based on diplomatic norms, with him saying something like this, here is my conclusion: There is no diplomatic rift or anything like that, its simple actually, Central Asia is getting closer to China and Russia is losing its influence over that region

It would be ironic if Chinese concerns are "why are you guys dragging your feet and not hitting Ukraine and the west harder?" Although I'd doubt that's the case.
