The Five Eyes Alliance claimed that China is "politically inflitrating" them.

To be honest, I wish China should intensify their efforts in doing this. Not just politically, but Chinese values in general.

Back then, it was the same group of Five Eyes + the rest of the West who inflitrated China with their own values. Now, it is truly the time for China to pay back that "courtesy".

China expresses concerns over Indigenous women's rights in U.S., Canada, Australia

China on Monday expressed its concerns over violations of rights of the Indigenous women and girls in the United States, Canada and Australia.

A Chinese delegation made clear the stance when speaking at an interactive dialogue following the presentation of a report by Reem Aslam, UN's special rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences, during the ongoing 50th regular session of UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

In her report, the special rapporteur pointed out the violence the Indigenous women involved in politics in the U.S. have been subjected to, the obstacles for Indigenous women and girls in the U.S. to seek justice, the high incarceration rate of Indigenous women in Australia, the genocide Canada has committed against its Indigenous population and the gender discrimination in the Indian Act of Canada.

Citing such violations of human rights, the Chinese delegation expressed grave concerns.

The U.S., Canada and Australia have a long history of adopting policies of ethnic cleansing and cultural genocide against their Indigenous peoples, and serious and systematic racial discrimination still exists today, said the Chinese delegation, adding that the Indigenous women and girls in these countries are oppressed, discriminated against, and at serious risk of violence.

China urges these countries to face up to historical crimes and today's problems, take practical measures to eliminate discrimination and violence against Indigenous women and girls, conduct investigations into violent acts to hold perpetrators accountable, and offer relief and compensation to victims, the delegation said.

The Chinese side calls on the UN human rights mechanisms to keep paying attention to the aforementioned issues, it added.
Yes!

Finally China has brought this up at the UN. The ethnic and cultural genocide needs to be stopped.

UN peacekeepers ought to be deployed to American cities to protect minorities, the American regime has failed to protect them.

Oh what a beautiful sight to behold
It looks like the gas is going to be turned off. Oil will skyrocket and then it'll be the perfect opportunity for OPEC to launch an embargo of their own in solidarity with Palestine. I think they're waiting for American strategic reserves to run dry. They were idiotically opened up too soon by Biden in solidarity with Europe.

Once that happens, it's goodbye to European civilisation.

That's strange, my friend told me about this news last week and he was sad about it because he wanted to revisit it, he also said that the food was delicious but the last time he visited there was when he was kid, so maybe the food quality have gotten worse over the years?

It's tragic mainly b'coz the Jumbo was featured in so many movies....including the absolutely legendary The God of Cookery, arguably one of the best HK movies ever made...

The last scenes - final competition between Stephen Chow and Vincent Kuk (2nd pic here) take place inside the Jumbo.

HK has another floating restaurant, which happens to be near my place, unlike the Jumbo, this is an actual cruise ship that does rounds in the harbor. The buffet is ok.... though not fantastic, floating restaurants are all gimmick and less about the food...

It tasted like they took it out of the freezer and microwaved it. And it definitely didn't cost as much as microwave food.

IMO you go to Jumbo to experience its history, as well as the novelty of eating on a floating restaurant styled as an Imperial Chinese palace, not the food.

When I last went, it was fine. Nothing special, but I wouldn't say it was that bad. This was quite a long time ago
I had many fond memories of eating there with my grandmother who lived nearby at the time. To hear of the sinking, my heart did a bit as well to be honest...

We went there because it was close, and she did not have to walk far. That part of Aberdeen is not easily accessible and required going through a toll tunnel, so not many cabs and no subway. Eventually she moved away because the government was tearing down the building to... make the area more accessible! (Subway extension, redevelopment, etc.)

Impressive take from the NYT:
Jumbos loss reverberated across Hong Kong, a Chinese territory where the neon-lit colossus built in the style of an imperial palace had sat in the same harbor for nearly half a century. Generations of Hong Kongers celebrated weddings and cut business deals there over Cantonese fare like crispy pork belly and wok-baked mud crab. For many people in the former British colony, the restaurant symbolized a period of local history more optimistic than the present.

Jumbos demise comes at a time of immense upheaval in Hong Kong, one that began when anti-government protests convulsed the city for months in 2019. That prompted the Chinese government in 2020 to impose a powerful national security law on the territory that has since eroded what was left of its democratic institutions.

Let's see if the European winter this year would be as cold as the winter in 1941-1942.

I remember that N4z1 Germany's Wehrmacht troops froze as they were right up against Moscow's suburbs back then.

Today, NATO is right up against Russia's very border.

Hmm...
