Also if they pushed through with this ban, we should look out for news on what pushback China is doing. I've notice in past instances where other countries got punished by China, they rarely get announced on domestic Chinese press that they are punishing them like import/export banning Lithuania, and sometimes they hide behind a different excuse as to why they are punishing like slapping tariff on Australia's export for "health reasons". These news of pushback are usually reported by Western media, and there might be incentives to selectively show and hide China's responses for propaganda and psyops reasons.

China does not need to react to whatever US does in a knee-jerk reaction manor, especially if such actions/reactions are counter-productive in economic development. US has been weaponizing stock listing, entity list, super 301 etc. against Chinese companies since the trade war. US has been keeping doubling down the bets since them, primarily because previous actions did not measure up to expectations. China does what it can do to serve its own people "为人民服务". US is trying all stops to play a geopolitical game that is not aligned with well being of the American public. Why would China knee-jerk-react to every move from crazy plutocrats?

The entire world's oil production has already peaked several years ago. The only cheap oil left is in Iran basically. Russia has been extracting their oil at full tilt but they and Saudi Arabia need to use enhanced oil recovery and extraction by injecting either water or carbon dioxide into the oil wells. I have been hearing for over a decade already that Russia's most productive oil deposits would last another decade tops. So. A lot of the wells they will be closing might never be opened again. And guess what Russia needs those revenues much less than the West needs this oil. Try looking at their import/export trade balance. I posted charts on this here some time ago.
Even if Russia cut its export volumes of oil&gas to the EU to 25-30% of what they are now it would be enough to cover imports. And that was before the oil & gas price rises and a collapse on imports from the EU because of sanctions. The EU is banning four of the five main exports they traded with Russia i.e. aircraft, and related parts, cars, and related parts. So Russia simply has little use for their export revenue to those countries. Further reducing Russian exports up to 2 million barrels/day would further squeeze the market and force the other nations to tap deeper into their reserves.

I share the same idea as you do, but I think other users here want to see China react in such matter in order to deter the US from doing similar actions in the future or going forward with it in the first place. I think there's no way China can ever deter US from doing these moves or from trying to increase tensions in the straits, its not because China is weak rather its because the US has a lot more to lose if they don't do something to put China down, and the only smart play China could do is to circumvent and adapt to these new conditions to their own favor.

I would consider it a win if they could help Hikvision circumvent these conditions and adapt to further escalations for other companies by preparing the system and contingencies beforehand. As US continues with these belligerent action, I see it as an opportunity for China to justify bending the rules in the future, and I can't wait for the day that China decides to completely unrecognize US patents or copyrights, and starts demanding payments in RMB for trade and for paying foreign debts.

CN deterrence is to “hope that the US side will implement President Joe Biden’s positive remarks and abandon the outdated zero-sum thinking of the Cold War.” Hope based deterrence...

This isn't meant to mock or joke about others suffering, but Geography may have a play on a countries ability to climb the economic/military ladder. This article describes how the rising temperatures can hampers many day 2 day type of activity in India like farming , construction, and increase suffering of people since teh majority have no AC.

I agreed that the US govt is completely focused on containing China and sabotaging any successful Chinese company. And no matter what China does, US will continue to follow that course of action. However, China needs to respond and impose a cost on hostile US actions. If there's no response, it would become an open season for Chinese companies where the US and allies will try to crush them everywhere.

The way China handled the Meng Wanzhou incident was the proper response. Moving forward, China needs to develop a specific plan on how to deal with these hostile US sanctions. Can't always hope for peace, need to be prepared for the worst case scenario..

A simple deterrence from China would be simply to spread by world of mouth how bad US companies are and simply soft sanction those companies so that domestic Chinese company profits will sky rocket and western company profits will plummet. In that way it’s a win win, plus even if the USA sanction these Chinese companies, they will simply find new markets and have the inventory to exploit such an opportunity while these western companies in Chinese need these supply lines to maintain their profits. In the end that the USA loses market share in China, well I like to see how these western company would last in either the EU or the USA when they can no longer produce their goods in bulk or with decent price. In the end, the USA in the short term might succeed in delaying the inevitable but in the long term will end up handing China the win. Once the USA gets it through to China that the USA is a dying market with the USA being increasingly incapable of well paying for the goods with anything worth while, while China cutting there loses and leaving the US market is a good thing and in that distant future where these USA no longer have the dominance it once has, what’s going to stop China from picking and choosing which companies are useful and which companies they can eventually eject from the Chinese market for being useless
