Who and where are these monkeys now? And here I thought China was run like the former USSR and worst run like North Korea where gov't criticisms equal DEATH OR BANISHMENTS.

Oh they're still around, still trying to spread their lies on social media, it's just that people don't buy their BS anymore.

A while back, one of these 公知, a Chinese with American citizenship, posted on Weibo urging Chinese people to stop eating seafood.

Latest 观棋有语 has some interesting detail. One of their listerner (the dude in Kabul who previously reported the Taliban sneak attack many days back) reports seeing Taliban having captured MANPAD from ANA and using them to toy with military aircraft at the airport. They would lock onto planes and not fire to coax them into unloading all the flairs and perform evasive manoeuvres.

Sorry, but sounds like BS. No MANPAD uses active homing, since that would give aircraft plenty of prior warning to evade. Stingers had a radio antenna, but that’s again passive only and for IFF purposes.

Furthermore, if the Taliban seized MANPADs from the Afghan army, then they would most likely be Stingers, which have a ridiculously short life BCU that only powers the unit for a pathetic 45 seconds.

So not only would them locking-on to aircraft not cause any warning in the aircraft, they would only be able to do it once before needing to find a fresh BCU to do it again.

If there is any credibility to the story, it would just be the Taliban pointing MANPADs at helicopters and causing them to go nuts when their pilots sees it, and not because they ‘locked on’ to the helicopters trigging the self defence suits.

The news from Afghanistan is actually starting to cause a demoralising effect in Taiwan.

The concept entered the public discourse in the early 2000s when China's GDP was less than one-fifth that of the U.S. while facing a myriad of domestic problems. A group of Chinese intellectuals rose to fame for criticizing the authorities' initial mishandling of the SARS epidemic in 2003 and crackdown on migrant vendors in Chinese city streets.

Since then, they repeatedly faulted China's political system for things that went wrong in the country while fostering the impression that an American-style government would be more efficient, humane and just.

But events in 2020 and 2021 dispelled that myth, Han said, citing the jaw-dropping death toll from the COVID-19 pandemic in the U.S., the widespread anti-racism protests following the police killing of George Floyd, and a presidential election that led to a riot at the heart of U.S. political institutions....

It certainly having an effect on this independence traitors. I think it's shock therapy...... otherwise known as welcome back to reality.

Blinken is way out of his depth.

He has no-one else to blame but himself. All the military advisors said that moving out is a bad idea. Did he listen?

Pompeo has lost weight and looks much older than he did under Trump. But well spoken nonetheless.

Yep, Biden still don't get it.

Wow, just wow. I would've been thrown out the side window if I made a U-turn like that.

July Biden: "I am confident the Afghan army is fully capable of defending Afghanistan, 'cause they have our support, our best equipment and best training... and an AIR FORCE!"

August Biden: "We knew the Afghan army couldn't defend Afghanistan, that's why we skedaddled like mad. Not our fault they didn't want to fight."
